Strontium Isotopic Composition of Mid-Cretaceous Seawater

Science, 1994
The 87 Sr/ 86 Sr ratio in fish teeth separated from mid-Cretaceous marl and black shale from the northeastern Apennines and Venetian Alps (Italy) define three periods of low 87 Sr/ 86 Sr ratio at 121 to 124 million years ago (Ma), 110 to 115 Ma,

Isotope exchange of strontium and molybdate ions in strontium polymolybdates

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2002
The heterogeneous isotopic exchange reactions in strontium polymolybdates of Sr2+ and MoO42- ions in the strontium nitrate and sodium molybdate solutions have been studied using 90Sr and 99Mo as tracers. Electrometric methods have been used to study the compositions of strontium molybdates obtained by adding strontium chloride to a progressively ...

Radiochemical separation of strontium by isotopic exchange

Talanta, 1967
Isotopic exchange has been used for the rapid separation of minute quantities of radio-strontium. A number of variables such as agitation time, concentration of strontium in both phases, mode of preparation and aging of the precipitates, were studied and optimized.

Strontium isotope analysis of apatite via SIMS

Chemical Geology, 2021
Abstract We report the development of a SIMS analytical method for in situ Sr isotope analysis of the mineral apatite at an analytical scale of 15 μm or less. Experiments were conducted on a series of reference apatites of widely differing Sr contents at three different mass resolution settings: low (3000), moderate (4200) and very high (16000 ...

Strontium-isotope stratigraphy of Enewetak Atoll

Geology, 1988
/sup 87/Sr//sup 86/Sr ratios determined for samples from a 350 m core of Neogene lagoonal, shallow-water limestones from Enewetak Atoll display a remarkably informative trend. Like the recently published data for Deep Sea Drilling Project (DSDP) carbonates, /sup 87/Sr//sup 86/Sr at Enewetak increases monotonically but not smoothly from the early ...

Isotopic Composition of Strontium in Carbonatites

Nature, 1962
THE origin of carbonatites has attracted increasing interest in recent years. The problem can be said to hinge on whether or not sedimentary carbonate rocks are involved in the formation of carbonatite. Since in general the strontium-87/strontium-86 ratios of sedimentary carbonate rocks1 differ from those of mafic igneous rocks2 we felt that a study of

Nuclear charge radii of proton-rich strontium isotopes

Physical Review C, 1987
A new technique of atom-photon coincidence laser spectroscopy has been developed and used to study the isotope shifts of $^{78\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}84}\mathrm{Sr}$. The results show that neither the droplet model nor existing interacting boson model calculations can adequately describe the rapid onset of nuclear deformation below N=50.

Isotopes of Strontium: Properties and Applications

2019
The chapter gives an overview of properties and application of stable and radioactive isotopes of strontium. Natural strontium consists of the following four stable isotopes: 84Sr (0.56%), 86Sr (9.86%), 87Sr (7.00%), and 88Sr (82.58%). Among them, 87Sr is a radiogenic isotope being the decay product of the long-lived natural beta-emitting isotope 87Rb;

Strontium isotope characterization of wines from Quebec, Canada

Food Chemistry, 2016
The (87)Sr/(86)Sr isotope ratios were measured on grape, wine and soil samples collected in 13 commercial vineyards located in three major wine producing areas of Quebec (Canada). The soils yield Sr isotope ratios that are intimately related to the local geology and unambiguously discriminate the different producing areas.

Specific activity and isotope abundances of strontium in purified strontium-82

Journal of Analytical Atomic Spectrometry, 2016
A linear accelerator was used to irradiate a rubidium chloride target with protons to produce strontium-82 (Sr-82), and the Sr-82 was purified by ion exchange chromatography.
