Rubidium-strontium isotope characteristics of lunar soils

Journal of Geophysical Research, 1972
Evaluation of K, Rb, and Sr concentrations and Sr isotopic composition for hand-picked fractions from the 175- to 1000-micron Apollo 12 fines samples 12032 and 12070 and for two less than 1-mm bulk fines samples, 14163,160 and 14259,21, from Apollo 14 which have model Rb-Sr ages close to 4.6 b.y. The Apollo 14 data indicate the presence of a radiogenic

ISOTOPE SHIFT SPECTROSCOPY OF ULTRACOLD STRONTIUM

2019
We describe the design, construction, and performance of a laser system to probe the ultra-narrow (Γ/2π ≈ mHz) clock transition 1S0 → 3P0 in strontium. We present the first reported spectroscopy of this transition in two of the bosonic isotopes, 84Sr and 86Sr.

Nuclear moments of strongly deformed strontium isotopes

Hyperfine Interactions, 1990
Nuclear spins, moments and mean square charge radii of78–100Sr have been obtained by fast ion-beam collinear laserspectroscopy. The experiments performed at ISOLDE have been extended to include99Sr, measured by a non-optical detection scheme with a two-step optical pumping sequence.

Determining landscape use of Holocene mammals using strontium isotopes

Oecologia, 2007
The use of the landscape by animals is predicted to be a function of their body size. However, empirical data relating these two variables from an array of body sizes within a single mammalian community are scarce. We tested this prediction by assessing landscape use of mammals by analyzing strontium (Sr) isotope signatures found in mammalian hard ...

The Origin of Strontium and the Strontium Isotope Budget of the River Nile

Isotopes in Environmental and Health Studies, 1997
Abstract The river Nile has been used as an example to study the evolution of the Sr content and the Sr isotope ratios in rivers in dependence on rock types of the catchment areas, the mixing of the waters from tributaries, the levelling out in a reservoir and evaporation losses.

Isotopic Composition of Strontium in Volcanic Rocks from Oahu

Science, 1966
Analysis of several well-documented specimens from each of the three volcanic series on Oahu gives the following mean ratios of Sr 87 to Sr 86 : the Waianae series, 0.7030 ± 0.00010 (σ̅); the Koolau series, 0.70385 ± 0.00009 (σ̅); and the Honolulu series, 0.7029 ± 0.00006 (σ̅). The mean ratio

Determinism in Strontium Isotope Record of Seawater

Mineralogical Magazine, 1994
The reconstruction of marine Sr isotope record during the Phanerozoic (cf. Burke et al., 1982; Jones 1991; McArthur 1994; and references therein) has been the objective of numerous studies in the last two decades. This experimental effort has been complemented by model studies, with some authors concentrating on the STSr/S6Sr record itself (cf.

Strontium isotope composition of rotorua geothermal waters

Geothermics, 1992
Strontium isotope compositions of Rotorua geothermal waters, taken in conjunction with chemical and stable isotope data, are broadly consistent with existing hydrogeologic models, and provide new insights into complex water-rock interactions and fluid-fluid mixing processes. Primary alkali chloride waters upwelling in the eastern part of the field have

Isotopic Homogenization of Strontium in Open Systems

1972
After the presentation and discussion of the isotopic composition of strontium in different igneous and sedimentary rocks in the preceding chapters, we now return to the problem of dating by the Rb-Sr method. We stated in Chapter II that one of the prerequisites for dating rocks or minerals is that their concentrations of rubidium and strontium and ...
