Self-gravitating isotropic and anisotropic fluid distributions

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1984
Some exact solutions of isotropic and anisotropic fluid distributions in general relativity have been generated in this paper on the basis of the Letelier theory of fluids.

Isotropic and anisotropic dark energy models

Physics of Particles and Nuclei, 2014
In this review we discuss the evolution of the universe filled with dark energy with or without perfect fluid. In doing so we consider a number of cosmological models, namely Bianchi type I, III, V, VI0, VI and FRW ones. For the anisotropic cosmological models we have used proportionality condition as an additional constrain. The exact solutions to the

Anisotropic and isotropic phases of polymer melts

Journal of Molecular Liquids, 2005
Abstract The melting mechanism of polymer crystals is proposed. It is assumed that the melting happens due to forming supervacancies. This mechanism leads the appearance of anisotropic phase of a melt. It is shown that two phases—anisotropic and isotropic—can exist in polymer melts.

Motion and vision IV Isotropic and anisotropic spatial responses

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1982
When the thresholds for periodic spatial patterns containing two or more differently oriented components (e.g., crossed gratings) are measured under normal, unstabilized conditions, each component seems to be detected almost independently of the others if their angular orientations are sufficiently different.

Isotropic and anisotropic physical properties of quasicrystals

The European Physical Journal B - Condensed Matter and Complex Systems, 2006
Since quasicrystals have positional and orientational long-range order, they are essentially anisotropic. However, the researches show that some physical properties of quasicrystals are isotropic. On the other hand, quasicrystals have additional phason degrees of freedom which can influence on their physical behaviours.

Short Envelope Solitons. Isotropic and Anisotropic Media

Radiophysics and Quantum Electronics, 2003
Within the framework of the third-order approximation of the nonlinear wave dispersion theory, we find new classes of short scalar and vector solitons of lengths about several wavelengths. Short scalar solitons are found within the framework of a third-order nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NSE-3) including both the nonlinear dispersion terms and the ...

Physical ageing of isotropic and anisotropic polycarbonate

Polymer, 1990
Abstract Polycarbonate displays physical ageing when subjected to annealing in the glassy state. The ageing is considerably enhanced with oriented polycarbonate, particularly if the orientation is achieved by cold drawing. The effect of cold drawing and annealing on mobility and free volume has been investigated by means of electron spin resonance ...

Performance of Isotropic and Anisotropic Heat Spreaders

Journal of Electronic Materials, 2012
Anisotropic heat spreaders (flexible graphite and continuous carbon fiber polymer-matrix composite) and isotropic heat spreaders (copper and aluminum) have been evaluated numerically in terms of thermal resistance. Anisotropic ones are attractive for their through-thickness thermal insulation ability.

Bi-Isotropic and Bi-Anisotropic Media

1997
Bi-anisotropic media have been of great interest for many years in the scientific community dealing with the electromagnetic properties of materials. Because of their diversity, they have found many potential applications, in a very large wavelength spectrum, from microwaves to optical frequencies.
