Producing graphite with desired properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Isotropic or anisotropic graphite is synthesized with precise control of particle size, distribution, and shape. The isotropic graphites are nearly perfectly isotropic, with thermal expansion coefficients two or three times those of ordinary graphites ...

A Thermal Gradient Approach for the Quasi-Harmonic Approximation and its Application to Improved Treatment of Anisotropic Expansion

open access: yes, 2018
We present a novel approach to efficiently implement thermal expansion in the quasi-harmonic approximation (QHA) for both isotropic and more importantly, anisotropic expansion.

Metal-insulator transitions in anisotropic 2d systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Several phenomena related to the critical behaviour of non-interacting electrons in a disordered 2d tight-binding system with a magnetic field are studied.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Gravitational decoupled anisotropies in compact stars

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2018
Simple generic extensions of isotropic Durgapal–Fuloria stars to the anisotropic domain are presented. These anisotropic solutions are obtained by guided minimal deformations over the isotropic system.

An anisotropic van der Waals dielectric for symmetry engineering in functionalized heterointerfaces

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Van der Waals dielectrics are fundamental materials for condensed matter physics and advanced electronic applications. Most dielectrics host isotropic structures in crystalline or amorphous forms, and only a few studies have considered the role of ...

Association of Corticospinal Tract Asymmetry With Ambulatory Ability After Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Ambulatory ability after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is important to patients. We tested whether asymmetry between ipsi‐ and contra‐lesional corticospinal tracts (CSTs) assessed by diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is associated with post‐ICH ambulation.

Nonlinear evolution equations for degenerate transverse waves in anisotropic elastic solids

open access: yes, 2008
Transverse elastic waves behave differently in nonlinear isotropic and anisotropic media. Quadratically nonlinear coupling in the evolution equations for wave amplitudes is not possible in isotropic solids, but such a coupling may occur for certain ...

Glymphatic Dysfunction Reflects Post‐Concussion Symptoms: Changes Within 1 Month and After 3 Months

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) may alter glymphatic function; however, its progression and variability remain obscure. This study examined glymphatic function following mTBI within 1 month and after 3 months post‐injury to determine whether variations in glymphatic function are associated with post‐traumatic symptom severity ...

Pump- and Probe-polarization Analyses of Ultrafast Carrier Dynamics in Organic Superconductors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We investigated photo-excited carrier relaxation dynamics in the strongly correlated organic superconductors kappa-(BEDT-TTF)(2)Cu(NCS)(2) and kappa-(BEDT-TTF)(2)Cu[N(CN)(2)]Br, using different polarizations of pump and probe pulses.
