Pickup Ion Production and Turbulence in the Global Heliosphere
The outer heliosphere model in the Space Weather Modeling Framework describes the dynamics of the thermal solar wind, pickup ions, electrons, and neutrals. We have extended this model with turbulence transport and a kinetic description of the pickup ions

Evaluating anisotropy‐based Monin–Obukhov similarity theory over canopies and complex terrain
This study shows that an anisotropy‐based generalization of Monin–Obukhov surface‐layer scaling (SC23) applies readily across a wide range of atmospheric conditions with variable terrain, canopies, and land‐cover complexity. This work focuses on the scaling of velocity variances for 7 years at the 47 sites in the National Ecological Observation Network

The climatological‐error covariance matrix used in three‐dimensional variational data assimilation (3DVar) provides smooth and isotropic increments spread to long distances. In contrast, three‐dimensional ensemble variational data assimilation (3DEnVar) with a purely ensemble‐error covariance matrix provides inhomogeneous increments and contains the ...

Wave turbulence: a solvable problem applied to the Navier–Stokes equations
Wave turbulence and eddy turbulence are the two regimes that we may encounter in nature. The attention of fluid mechanics being mainly focused on incompressible hydrodynamics, it is usually the second regime that is treated in books, whereas waves are ...

ABSTRACT We present experimental results on the relationship between rain attenuation and simultaneous scintillation during rain events, based on beacon signal measurements at 19.7 (Ka‐band) and 39.4 GHz (Q‐band) from the geosynchronous Alphasat satellite (25° E), received at two Italian ground stations, Spino d'Adda (42.1° slant path) and Tito Scalo ...

Uncertainties exist in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling of complex metallurgical processes, even when partly validated by laboratory experiments. rCFD enables computationally efficient prediction of long‐term RH degassing and can be adapted to vary flow conditions.

Scaling of acceleration in locally isotropic turbulence [PDF]
The variances of the fluid-particle acceleration and of the pressure-gradient and viscous force are given. The scaling parameters for these variances are velocity statistics measureable with a single-wire anemometer. For both high and low Reynolds numbers, asymptotic scaling formulas are given; these agree quantitatively with DNS data.

Flows of natural hydro-environments are usually turbulent and mostly stratified, like the flows in lakes, reservoirs, estuaries and atmosphere to name a few. In stratified flows due to the buoyancy forces, the turbulent stresses are usually non-isotropic.

Herein, AlCoCrFeNi2.1 is selected to produce lattice structures by selective laser melting. The as‐printed lattice structures consist of numerous colonies of nanosized eutectic lamellar structures which are bent and interwind with each other to form a woven microstructure. The unique microstructure leads to unprecedented effective metal strength, yield
