New AI‐Assisted Approach for Expanding the Solution Space: Application to Lattice Structure Design

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces an innovative framework for designing structured materials by ex panding the design space through reparameterization of qualitative variables into continuous structural descriptors. Combined with machine‐learning‐based prediction and multi‐objective optimization, the approach enables the discovery of novel lattice architectures ...

Isotropy indices of Pfister multiples in characteristic two [PDF]

open access: yes
Let $F$ be a field of characteristic $2$, $π$ be an $n$-fold bilinear Pfister form over $F$ and $φ$ an arbitrary quadratic form over $F$. In this note, we investigate Witt index, defect, total isotropy index and higher isotropy indices of $φ$ and $π ...

Additive Manufacturing of Alumina‐Reinforced Elastomers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Vat‐photopolymerized elastomers reinforced with platelet‐shaped alumina exhibited preferential orientation, reduced porosity, and significantly enhanced mechanical performance. A 3 wt% platelet loading increased tensile strength from 12.4 to 45.7 MPa, highlighting the critical role of filler morphology in elastomeric VPP composites.

Assessing Isotropy for Spatial Point Processes

open access: yes, 2006
A common assumption while analyzing spatial point processes is direction invariance, i.e., isotropy. In this article, we propose a formal nonparametric approach to test for isotropy based on the asymptotic joint normality of the sample second-order ...

Application value of isotropic acquisition with simultaneous multi-slice diffusion weighted imaging in subacute early small artery occlusive cerebral infarction

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
BackgroundTo compare the application value of conventional single-shot echo planar imaging (SS-EPI), simultaneous multi-slice single-shot echo planar imaging (SMS + SS-EPI), and simultaneous multi-slice segmented readout isotropic acquisition in ...

Elastic Properties and Thermal Expansion Behavior of a Polycrystalline VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The high‐entropy alloy (HEA) V20Mn20Fe20Co20Ni20 (composition in at.%) can be made single‐phase face‐centered cubic (FCC) when annealed above 1338 K followed by water quenching. In this state, the alloy exhibits the greatest strength‐ductility combination of any quinary single‐phase FCC HEA.

Experimental Studies of Gas Permeability Through Isotropic Porous Materials in the Cubic System

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The results of the experimental research on the assessment of the gas permeability of porous materials in relation to gas flow are presented. The tests involved materials with an isotropic gap-porous structure—for comparison, a model material such as ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Efficiently manufacturing large-scale isotropic Al7075 alloy sheets with submicron grain by multidirectional rotary forging

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Aluminum alloy sheets with higher isotropy and finer grains possess larger post-formability and better mechanical properties. However, it is extremely difficult to simultaneously realize the isotropy improvement and grain refinement by conventional ...
