An Isotropic Areal Filter Based on High-Order Thin-Plate Spline for Surface Metrology

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Isotropy, end effect suppression, calculation efficiency and robustness are basic requirements of areal filters for surface metrology. However, current areal filters cause problems in different aspects, which cripples the operation of surface metrology ...

Fully Printed 3-D Antennas With Wideband Radiation Isotropy Based on Annular Currents Models

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2023
Internet of Things (IoT) devices require orientation insensitive communication and a small footprint. Wireless communication should be maintained across the whole operation band, hence electrically small antennas (ESAs) with wideband radiation isotropy ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

The representation of Quito’s southern neighborhoods in the last mayoral election. Isotropy deficit or shortage of respect?

open access: yesÍconos, 2020
The last mayoral election in Quito produced a totally unexpected outcome, which contradicted all polls published before the election. Early attempts to explain the results centered on the voting patterns of the city´s southern neighborhoods, which ...

Cubature, Approximation, and Isotropy in the Hypercube [PDF]

open access: yesSIAM Review, 2017
A common problem especially in computational (applied) mathematics is the so-called curse of dimensionality. This means that the computational costs of solving numerical problems (approximation, compression, quadratures) increase much faster (e.g., exponentially) with dimension as is initially expected.

Brainstem and Cerebellar Volume Loss and Associated Clinical Features in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) is a neurodegenerative ‘tauopathy’ with predominating pathology in the basal ganglia and midbrain. Caudal tau spread frequently implicates the cerebellum; however, the pattern of atrophy remains equivocal.

Diffusion Spectrum Imaging Maps Early Axonal Loss and a Unique Progressive Signal in Neuronal Intranuclear Inclusion Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To delineate specific in vivo white matter pathology in neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease (NIID) using diffusion spectrum imaging (DSI) and define its clinical relevance. Methods DSI was performed on 42 NIID patients and 38 matched controls.

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...
