Changes in Isozyme Profiles of Catalase, Peroxidase, and Glutathione Reductase during Acclimation to Chilling in Mesocotyls of Maize Seedlings

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1995
The response of antioxidants to acclimation and chilling in various tissues of dark-grown maize (Zea mays L.) seedlings was examined in relation to chilling tolerance and protection from chilling-induced oxidative stress.

Genetics of isozymes in grasspea [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Heredity, 2000
We studied the inheritance and linkage of ACO-1, ACO-2, AAT-1, AAT-2, EST-3, EST-6, FDH, LAP-1, PGD-2, SKDH, and TPI-1 in four F2 populations of grasspea (Lathyrus sativus L.) using horizontal starch-gel electrophoresis. Mendelian inheritance was observed for all of the isozymes studied.

Somaclonal variation in tissue culture of banana cv. 'Kluai Num Wa'[Musa (ABB group)] [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2007
Two types of cytokinins, 6-Benzyladenine (BA) and/or coconut water (CW) and pH of medium were studied for their effects on shoot formation, growth and somaclonal variation of banana tissue culture. Thecultures were carried out on Murashige and Skoog (MS)

Mapping of resistance genes to brown rust in 1R chromosome of rye (Secale cereale L.)

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2002
Five resistance genes to single-pustule isolates Nos. 12, 81,108 and 7 of brown rust were mapped on 1R chromosome of rye using two different F2 populations.

Glucose-6-phosphate Isomerase as a Marker of a Fertility Restorer Gene in Rape - Short Communication

open access: yesCzech Journal of Genetics and Plant Breeding, 2003
In breeding of winter rape (Brassica napus L. var. napus) using the OGU-INRA system, based on cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS), it is necessary to distinguish pollen-sterile lines, carrying CMS factors and the recessive fertility restorer alleles rfrf ...

Alkaline phosphatase protects lipopolysaccharide-induced early pregnancy defects in mice. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Excessive cytokine inflammatory response due to chronic or superphysiological level of microbial infection during pregnancy leads to pregnancy complications such as early pregnancy defects/loss and preterm birth. Bacterial toxin lipopolysaccharide (LPS),

Bioinformatic Scaling of Allosteric Interactions in Biomedical Isozymes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Allosteric (long-range) interactions can be surprisingly strong in proteins of biomedical interest. Here we use bioinformatic scaling to connect prior results on nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to promising new drugs that inhibit cancer cell metabolism.

INHERITANCE OF ISOZYMES: DESCRIPTION OF NEW LOCI IN ONIONS ISOZYMES [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1993
Horizontal starch gel electrophoresis was used to study the mode of inheritance of isozyme phenotypes of four enzyme systems (ADH, 6-PGDH, PGM, and SKDH) in Allium cepa L. and A. fistulosum L. by monitoring segregations in backcross and F2 progeny. Segregation for most of the polymorphisms fit the expected Mendelian ratios as tested by the chi-square ...

Trypanosoma cruzi: inhibition of alpha-hydroxyacid dehydrogenase isozyme II by N-allyl and N-propyl oxamates and their effects on intact epimastigotes

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2004
N-allyl (NAOx) and N-propyl (NPOx) oxamates were designed as inhibitors of alpha-hydroxyacid dehydrogenase (HADH) isozyme II from Trypanosoma cruzi. The kinetic studies showed that NAOx and NPOx were competitive inhibitors of HADH-isozyme II (Ki = 72 µM,

In situ click chemistry generation of cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Cyclooxygenase-2 isozyme is a promising anti-inflammatory drug target, and overexpression of this enzyme is also associated with several cancers and neurodegenerative diseases.
