Bovine pyruvate kinase isozymes and hybrid isozymes

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1976
Abstract Electrophoresis of various bovine tissue extracts revealed, in addition to the three major homotetrameric isozymes of pyruvate kinase (K 4 , L 4 , and M 4 ), numerous intermediate bands that behave electrophoretically as hybrid isozymes. Kidney, for example, contains both K-L and K-M hybrid sets.

Isozymes in seagrasses

Aquatic Botany, 1982
Abstract Isozymes have been compared in leaves grown under controlled conditions for 31 species in the 12 seagrass genera. In isozyme patterns the three genera Zostera, Phyllospadix an and Heterozostera , of subfamily Zosteroideae of Potamogetonaceae, showe greater overall similarity to each other than to members of subfamilies Posidonioideae and ...

Enolase isozymes from Ricinus communis: Partial purification and characterization of the isozymes

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1984
The plastid and cytosolic isozymes of enolase from developing endosperm of castor oil seeds, Ricinus communis L. cv. Baker 296, were separated and partially purified. Each purified isozyme had a specific activity of approximately 200 mumol min-1 mg protein.

Isozymes of AMP Deaminase

1977
AMP deaminase (AMP aminohydrolase EC, 3.5.4.6) catalyzes deamination of AMP to form IMP and ammonia. Although the physiological role of this enzyme remains obscure, it may be important to stabilize the adenylate charge (1), in the conversion of adenine nucleotide to inosine or guanine nucleotide (2–5) and furthermore as a key enzyme in the purine ...

Isozymes in Lycopersicon

1991
Electrophoretic technique combined with enzyme-specific stains has provided the most precise way of estimating genetic variability in many plant taxa. Within the genus Lycopersicon this method has been successfully applied by Rick and his colleagues for measuring the extent of variation both in cultivated forms and wild species (Rick 1976a, 1983 ...

Aldolase isozymes in cancer

European Journal of Cancer (1965), 1966
Abstract There are two different types of aldolase in mammalian tissues, the main difference between these isozymes is the relative activity towards the second substrate of aldolase, fructose- 1 -phosphate (F- 1 -P). In normal liver the ratio of the activities towards fructose di-phosphate (F-d-P) and towards fructose- 1 -phosphate, is near 1 ...

Human placental aminopeptidase isozymes

Experientia, 1974

Activation of carbonic anhydrase isozymes

2000
CA inhibition by sulphanilamide, discovered in England by Mann and Keilin (1940) and its activation by different classes of compounds, reported in Germany by Leiner (1940), although simultaneous, had completely different consequences for CA research.

Trehalase Isozymes in Amniotic Fluid

Asia-Oceania Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 1986
AbstractA technique has been developed for the separation of trehalase isozymes by poly‐acrylamide slab gel electrophoresis in horizontal plates. Amniotic fluid was found to contain two isozymes at middle gestation and two or three isozymes at late gestation. Meconium at middle gestation and newborn urine contain only low‐mobility isozyme.

Isozymes of Alcohol Dehydrogenases

1980
Thirty amino acid substitutions are known in eight sets of isozymes or mutants of alcohol dehydrogenases. The replacements are at different positions in the subunits and affect many regions of the protein chains, which is consistent with the variability in properties of isozyme pairs.
