Online body schema adaptation based on internal mental simulation and multisensory feedback

open access: yesFrontiers in Robotics and AI, 2016
In this paper, we describe a novel approach to obtain automatic adaptation of the robot body schema and to improve the robot perceptual and motor skills based on this body knowledge.

The Regulation of Integrated Stress Response Signaling Pathway on Viral Infection and Viral Antagonism

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
The integrated stress response (ISR) is an adaptational signaling pathway induced in response to different stimuli, such as accumulation of unfolded and misfolded proteins, hypoxia, amino acid deprivation, viral infection, and ultraviolet light.

Enhancing Surgical Efficiency and Cost‐Effectiveness With TaTME‐Combined Robot‐Assisted Surgery for Lower Rectal Cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Robot‐assisted rectal surgery (RAS) offers improved dexterity and visualization; however, the high cost of equipment and consumables remains a major challenge for hospital management. At our institution, we have adopted a combined approach using transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME) for lower rectal cancers, aiming to shorten ...

Clinical Outcomes of Drug-Eluting versus Bare-Metal In-Stent Restenosis after the Treatment of Drug-Eluting Stent or Drug-Eluting Balloon: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Interventional Cardiology, 2020
Background. Although drug-eluting stents (DES) have reduced the rates of in-stent restenosis (ISR) compared with bare-metal stents (BMS), DES related ISR (DES-ISR) still occurs and outcomes of DES-ISR remain unclear.

Short Distal Resection Margin Does Not Increase Recurrence Risk After R0 Resection for Rectal Neuroendocrine Tumors: A Single‐Institution Retrospective Study of 208 Patients

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study evaluated the impact of distal resection margin (DRM) length on recurrence in 208 patients undergoing surgery for rectal neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Our findings demonstrate that while oncological safety must unquestionably remain the top priority, a short pathological DRM (< 10 mm) does not increase recurrence risk when R0 resection is ...

Impact of Two‐Team Surgery on Short‐ and Long‐Term Outcomes of Transanal Total Mesorectal Excision for Rectal Cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study investigated the impact of two‐team surgery on short‐ and long‐term outcomes of transanal total mesorectal excision for rectal cancer. Two‐team surgery has some advantages over one‐team surgery, such as shorter operation time, decreased estimated blood loss, increased number of lymph nodes dissected, and decreased positive distal margin ...

ISR PHYSICS AT BABAR

open access: yesParticle Physics at the Year of Astronomy, 2010
A method of measuring e+e- annihilation cross sections at low energy sqrt{s}< 5 GeV, using initial-state radiation, is described. Experimental data from the PEP-II B-factory at 10.6 GeV center-of-mass energy, obtained via ISR, are presented. The cross sections are measured for many processes e+e- --> 3pi, 4pi, 2K pi, 2K 2pi, 4K, p anti-p, Lambda ...

Prognostic Value of Psoas Major Muscle Volume in Assessing Sarcopenia in Elderly Patients With Rectal Cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study investigates the prognostic utility of a novel volumetric indicator—psoas volume index (PVI)—for assessing sarcopenia in elderly rectal cancer patients. Sarcopenia classified by our proposed PVI cut‐off values was associated with poor nutritional and inflammatory status, and patients with low PVI showed significantly worse long‐term outcomes.

The Age at Onset of LRRK2 p.Gly2019Ser Parkinson's Disease Across Ancestries and Countries of Origin

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objectives The objective of this study was to elucidate differences in the cumulative incidence of Leucine‐rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) p.Gly2019Ser‐related Parkinson's disease (PD; LRRK2‐PD) between ancestries and countries. Methods We included 922 unrelated p.Gly2019Ser variant carriers (affected = 762 and unaffected = 160) from the Global Parkinson ...
