Predatory Behavior of the Basilica Spider, Mecynogea Lemniscata (Araneae, Araneidae)

open access: yesPsyche: A Journal of Entomology, Volume 99, Issue 2-3, Page 153-168, 1992., 1992
Females of Mecynogea lemniscata (Walckenaer) are generalist predators. Sixteen behavioral acts were described for M. lemniscata preying on house flies, carpenter ants, and Asiatic oak weevils in the field and laboratory. Behavioral sequences varied with prey type, but generally began with plucking and diverged there‐after.

Take-off speed in jumping mantises depends on body size and a power-limited mechanism. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Many insects such as fleas, froghoppers and grasshoppers use a catapult mechanism to jump, and a direct consequence of this is that their take-off velocities are independent of their mass.

Phylogenomic insights into the relationship and the evolutionary history of planthoppers (Insecta: Hemiptera: Fulgoromorpha) 基于基因组的系统发育分析为蜡蝉亚目(Fulgoromorpha)的系统发育关系及进化提供新见解

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 50, Issue 3, Page 495-518, July 2025.
Using genomic data from 285 species across 19 planthopper families, we conducted the first phylogenomic study targeting global planthoppers and inferred their phylogeny with the highest resolution so far. We proposed taxonomic changes including the establishment of a new family Borysthenidae stat. rev. and a new superfamily Meenoploidea superfam.
