Molecular Detection of Exserohilum turcicum in Maize Seeds: Validation of Specific Primers and Development of PCR/qPCR Protocols

open access: yesJournal of Phytopathology, Volume 174, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT Northern corn leaf blight, one of the most devastating diseases of maize (Zea mays), is caused by Exserohilum turcicum. This pathogen is widely distributed and can be found in maize fields across most regions of the world. The association of pathogens with seeds is considered a serious threat to the establishment of a field since seeds are ...

Assessment of genetic diversity in Vigna unguiculata L. (Walp) accessions using inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) and start codon targeted (SCoT) polymorphic markers

open access: yesBMC Genetics, 2017
Background Assessment of genetic diversity of Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp (cowpea) accessions using informative molecular markers is imperative for their genetic improvement and conservation.

Measuring Plant Genetic Diversity Using Inter-Simple Sequence Repeats (ISSRS) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Simple sequence repeats (SSRs) have great utility as they are conserved and present in all eukaryotic genomes. Here we report the use of a simple PCR with fluorescently-labelled primers to amplify inter-SSR markers (ISSRs) for diversity assessments.

Integrative phylogenomics and morphology reveal the evolution and biogeography of Encephalartos (Zamiaceae)

open access: yesJournal of Systematics and Evolution, Volume 64, Issue 2, Page 295-312, March 2026.
We aimed to conduct phylogenetic analyses of Encephalartos, a cycad genus endemic to Africa, using 3545 single‐copy nuclear genes extracted from transcriptome data, covering 64/65 of the recognized species, along with inference of divergence times using two secondary calibration points.

Comparative Study of Hydrothermal and Sonochemical Preparation of Cu and Ag Codoped ZnO/Graphene Nanocomposites for Enhanced Catalytic and Inactivation of Pathogens

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 27, Issue 3, February 2026.
Cu–Ag codoped ZnO/graphene nanocomposites were synthesized via hydrothermal and sonochemical methods to enhance interfacial charge transfer and visible‐light activity. Strong Zn–O–C bonding, reduced bandgap, and improved electron mobility enabled superior photocatalytic dye degradation and antibacterial performance.

Comparison of RAPD, ISSR, and AFLP molecular markers to reveal and classify orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata L.) germplasm variations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Three different DNA-based techniques, Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD), Inter Simple Sequence Repeat (ISSR) and Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism (AFLP markers, were used for fingerprinting Dactylis glomerata genotypes and for detecting ...

Climate‐linked evolution and genetics in a warming Arctic

open access: yesEcological Monographs, Volume 96, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Knowledge of evolutionary patterns and genetic variation across a species' range is important for determining conservation and management strategies. The Arctic is the fastest‐warming ecosystem on Earth and has already reached temperature increases not expected in the rest of the world until the end of the century.
