Amydetes itatiaia sp. nov. (Figs. 14, 36, 55, 74, 92, 120, 138, 200–203) Diagnosis. Colouration (see below). Antennomere III as long as pedicel, flabellum 2x longer than antennomere III. Maxillary palpomere IV 4x longer than III, as long as o labial palpomere III. Abdominal sternum VIII medially projected.

The geomorphological region of the Serra da Mantiqueira represents one of the most elevated compartments of the entire oriental sector of the Brazilian shield. Its contemporary gross morphology results from Neogene to Quaternary differential uplift, and the area hosts a range of morphotectonic features.
