Robustness of high‐throughput prediction of leaf ecophysiological traits using near infrared spectroscopy and poro‐fluorometry

open access: yesThe Plant Phenome Journal, Volume 9, Issue 1, December 2026.
Abstract Water scarcity is a major threat to crop production and quality. Improving drought tolerance through variety selection requires a deeper understanding of plant ecophysiological responses, but large‐scale phenotyping remains a bottleneck. This study assessed the potential of high‐throughput tools (spectroscopy and poro‐fluorometry) to predict ...

A novel dual‐decomposition method for non‐convex two‐stage stochastic mixed‐integer quadratically constrained quadratic problems

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, Volume 33, Issue 5, Page 3128-3157, September 2026.
Abstract We propose the novel p‐branch‐and‐bound method for solving two‐stage stochastic programming problems whose deterministic equivalents are represented by non‐convex mixed‐integer quadratically constrained quadratic programming (MIQCQP) models. The precision of the solution generated by the p‐branch‐and‐bound method can be arbitrarily adjusted by

The superconducting proposal for the CS magnet system of FAST: a preliminary analysis of the heat load due to AC losses

open access: yes, 2011
FAST (Fusion Advanced Studies Torus), the Italian proposal of a Satellite Facility to ITER, is a compact tokamak (R$_0$ = 1.82 m, a = 0.64 m, triangularity $\delta$ = 0.4) able to investigate non-linear dynamics effects of $\alpha$-particle behavior in ...

Coupled Clustering in Hierarchical Matrices for the Oseen Problem

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids, Volume 98, Issue 6, Page 751-765, June 2026.
Fluid flow problems can be modelled by the Navier‐Stokes or, after linearization, by the Oseen equations. Their discretization results in linear systems in saddle point form which are typically very large and need to be solved iteratively. We propose a novel block structure for hierarchical matrices which is then used to build preconditioners for the ...

Biosorption of heavy metals from wastewater via agro waste derived biosorbents emphasizing mechanisms kinetics isotherm models and modification strategies

open access: yesDiscover Applied Sciences
Heavy-metal contamination remains a critical environmental issue due to the persistence and toxicity of metals such as Pb, Cd, Cr, Ni, and Mn. Agricultural waste–derived biosorbents have emerged as cost-effective and sustainable alternatives to ...

A validity evaluation of lexicon‐based sentiment analysis of medical students' clinical performance from in‐training evaluation reports

open access: yesMedical Education, Volume 60, Issue 6, Page 685-692, June 2026.
Abstract Introduction Assessment of clinical performance has traditionally been a numbers game based upon Likert scale ratings. But, thanks to advances in the science of natural language processing (NLP), it is now possible to incorporate rich narrative data into assessment.

Machine Learning‐Based Analysis of Atmospheric Process Sensitivity to Land Surface Properties Over Complex Terrain

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 9, 16 May 2026.
Abstract This study investigates the sensitivity of numerical simulations of atmospheric processes over complex terrain to land surface model (LSM) parameters, focusing on thermally driven circulations in an idealized valley. The sensitivity analysis is performed using the Weather Research and Forecasting model coupled with the Noah‐MP LSM, for forest ...

Ga Doping Enables Precision Alloy‐to‐Wire Regulation: Synergistic Enhancement of the Mechanical Properties of CuSn Alloy and the Superconducting Properties of Nb3Sn

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 25, 4 May 2026.
By adjusting Ga's doping in Cu–Sn alloy, an ultra‐high elongation of 100.8% is achieved in first time. Ga forms a stable solid solution structure and a stronger electron exchange with Cu. This enhances strength‐ductility synergistically by tuning SFE to balance twinning and slip.

Evolution of Resistance to Avian Malaria Infection in an Endemic Hawaiian Honeycreeper

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
Hawaiian honeycreepers, a group of endemic song birds, represent one of the most stunning examples of an adaptive radiation. An evolutionary history devoid of malaria‐causing parasites has made them incredibly susceptible to disease. This work sought to identify genomic correlates of avian malaria infection.

The PRIMA Test Facility: SPIDER and MITICA test-beds for ITER neutral beam injectors

open access: yes, 2017
The ITER Neutral Beam Test Facility (NBTF), called PRIMA (Padova Research on ITER Megavolt Accelerator), is hosted in Padova, Italy and includes two experiments: MITICA, the full-scale prototype of the ITER heating neutral beam injector, and SPIDER, the ...
