This chapter follows the biographical becoming of Habib Luthfi, who, unlike the scions of the Bā ʻAlawī saintly dynasties, does not come from an established scholarly or saintly background. Habib Luthfi had to form new connections and embed himself in established genealogical channels to be recognized as a credible connector to the Prophetic past.
