Observations On Copulation In Ixodes Holocyclus Neumann And The Feeding Of The Male

Journal of Medical Entomology, 1966
Some female Ixodes holocydus Neumann removed from their natural hosts were found with males attached to their ventral surfaces. These males were engaged in two separate processes, copulation and feeding. At the start of copulation the male's mouthparts are inserted into the genital aperture of the female where they remain throughout the entire process.

Histology of bovine skin reactions to Ixodes holocyclus Neumann.

Canadian journal of comparative medicine : Revue canadienne de medecine comparee, 1977
The histology of skin responses to infestations with female Ixodes holocyclus ticks was investigated in naive and previously infested cattle. In the latter hosts, infiltration of the skin site with basophil leucocytes was an early event. Concurrent spongiosis and vesiculation occurred in the epidermis adjacent to the tick mouthparts.
