Differential diagnosis of Ixodes ricinus and Ixodes persulcatus: nymphs and larvae

Experimental and Applied Acarology, 2018
We developed a method for differential diagnosis of nymphs and larvae of sheep (Ixodes ricinus (L.)) and taiga (I. persulcatus Sch.) ticks (Parasitiformes: Ixodidae) which allows to identify live material in the field.

Genomic signatures of hybridization between Ixodes ricinus and Ixodes persulcatus

2023
Identifying hybridization between common pathogen vectors is essential due to the major public health implications through risks associated with hybrid’s enhanced pathogen transmission potential. These hard-ticks Ixodes ricinus and Ixodes persulcatus are the two most common vectors of tick-borne pathogens that affect human and animal health in Europe ...

Susceptibility of the taiga tick Ixodes persulcatus Schulze to pyrethroids

Experimental and Applied Acarology, 1994
The susceptibility of the taiga tick Ixodes persulcatus Schulze to 15 pyrethroids has been evaluated. The knockdown time after exposure of ticks to pyrethroids tested was quite similar. It was revealed that the lethal doses of type I pyrethroids (permethrin-like) induced the rapid attachment of ticks to host.

Prevalence and phylogenetic analysis of Babesia spp. in Ixodes ricinus and Ixodes persulcatus ticks in Latvia

Experimental and Applied Acarology, 2015
Babesia spp. are tick-borne protozoan parasites that have been reported in many European countries and are considered to be emerging pathogens. Several Babesia spp. have been identified in ticks in Latvia. Recently, canine babesiosis cases were diagnosed for the first time in Latvia; therefore, continued studies on the prevalence and occurrence of new ...

Molecular detection of Anaplasma phagocytophilum in cattle and Ixodes persulcatus ticks

Veterinary Microbiology, 2011
The tick-borne pathogen, Anaplasma phagocytophilum (A. phagocytophilum), the causative agent of human granulocytic anaplasmosis (HGA), is increasingly becoming a public health concern as an aetiological agent for emerging infectious disease. We found A. phagocytophilum infection in a pooled sample of field-collected Ixodes persulcatus (I.

[Prediction of suitable habitats of Ixodes persulcatus in China].

Zhongguo xue xi chong bing fang zhi za zhi = Chinese journal of schistosomiasis control, 2021
To evaluate the effects of environmental factors the distribution of Ixodes persulcatus, and to predict the future suitable habitats of I. persulcatus in China. The known distribution sites of I. persulcatus in China were captured from national and international published literatures.

Detection of Borrelia miyamotoi in Ixodes persulcatus ticks in Russia

Entomological Review, 2010
Unfed adult ticks Ixodes persulcatus from five regions of Russia were examined by PCR method in order to analyze distribution and diversity of B. miyamotoi. B. miyamotoi DNA was found in 1.8, 2.9, 4.5, 2.3, and 2.5% of ticks from Leningrad, Sverdlovsk, Novosibirsk, and Irkutsk provinces, and from Khabarovsk Territory, respectively.
