Genomic signatures of hybridization between Ixodes ricinus and Ixodes persulcatus
2023Identifying hybridization between common pathogen vectors is essential due to the major public health implications through risks associated with hybrid’s enhanced pathogen transmission potential. These hard-ticks Ixodes ricinus and Ixodes persulcatus are the two most common vectors of tick-borne pathogens that affect human and animal health in Europe ...

Differential diagnosis of Ixodes ricinus and Ixodes persulcatus: nymphs and larvae
Experimental and Applied Acarology, 2018We developed a method for differential diagnosis of nymphs and larvae of sheep (Ixodes ricinus (L.)) and taiga (I. persulcatus Sch.) ticks (Parasitiformes: Ixodidae) which allows to identify live material in the field.

Ixodes persulcatus Schulze, 1930 (Figs. 70–72)
2017Ixodes persulcatus, the taiga tick, is a three-host tick. Under laboratory conditions (20 °C, 12 h light/dark cycle) the life-cycle takes about 250 days (Konnai et al. in Jpn J Vet Res 55:85–92, 2008). It is a generalist tick, feeding on a variety of different animal species, ranging from reptiles to birds to mammals.

Exchange of Borrelia burgdorferi Between Ixodes persulcatus (Ixodidae: Acarina) Sexual Partners
Journal of Medical Entomology, 1996Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato infection rate in Ixodes persulcatus Schulze maintained at different relative humidity gradients in male and females pairs, separated by sex, and in ticks of both sexes having either normal or abnormal exoskeleton were compared. Ticks were collected in the St. Petersburg Region of Russia during 1992 and 1994. We observed

Susceptibility of the taiga tick Ixodes persulcatus Schulze to pyrethroids
Experimental and Applied Acarology, 1994The susceptibility of the taiga tick Ixodes persulcatus Schulze to 15 pyrethroids has been evaluated. The knockdown time after exposure of ticks to pyrethroids tested was quite similar. It was revealed that the lethal doses of type I pyrethroids (permethrin-like) induced the rapid attachment of ticks to host.

Metalloproteases (MPs) have been considered essential for blood feeding and other physiological functions in several hematophagous animals, including ticks. We report the characterization of MP sequences of three important ticks from Asia, Africa and America: Ixodes persulcatus (Ip-MPs), Rhipicephalus sanguineus (Rs-MPs) and R.
