Towards advanced divertor configurations on the J-TEXT tokamak

Plasma Science and Technology, 2022
Abstract Developing advanced magnetic divertor configurations to address the coupling of heat and particle exhaust with impurity control is one of the major challenges currently constraining the further development of fusion research. It has therefore become the focus of extensive attention in recent years.

The vacuum system of the J-TEXT tokamak

Plasma Devices and Operations, 2009
A new vacuum system is designed and developed on the Joint Texas Experimental tokamak (J-TEXT), which consists of two pumping stations, a Taylor discharge cleaning (TDC) system and gas puffing. With this system, the vacuum vessel of the J-TEXT tokamak can easily reach the vacuum conditions which allow the operation of the machine.

Observation of runaway electrons by infrared camera in J-TEXT

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2016
When the energy of confined runaway electrons approaches several tens of MeV, the runaway electrons can emit synchrotron radiation in the range of infrared wavelength. An infrared camera working in the wavelength of 3-5 μm has been developed to study the runaway electrons in the Joint Texas Experimental Tokamak (J-TEXT).

Measurement of the edge plasma rotation on J-TEXT tokamak

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2013
A multi-channel high resolution spectrometer was developed for the measurement of the edge plasma rotation on J-TEXT tokamak. With the design of two opposite viewing directions, the poloidal and toroidal rotations can be measured simultaneously, and velocity accuracy is up to 1 km/s.

Electron cyclotron emission radiometer upgrade on the J-TEXT tokamak

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2016
To meet experimental requirements, the J-TEXT electron cyclotron emission (ECE) diagnostic is being upgraded. The front end antenna and transmission line have been modified and a new 8-channel W-band detecting unit has been developed. The improved ECE system will extend the frequency range from 94.5-124.5 GHz to 80.5-124.5 GHz.

Recent progress of the HCN interferometer on J-TEXT tokamak

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2012
A multichannel far-infrared HCN laser interferometer has been developed to measure plasma electron density for the J-TEXT tokamak. Initial operation of a seven chords system with 7 cm spacing and a 0.1 ms temporal resolution is described. Density modulation experiments in J-TEXT show that it is possible to obtain information on particle transport by ...

Development of the gas puffing imaging diagnostic on J-TEXT tokamak

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2021
Edge turbulence is important for plasma confinement, so the gas puffing imaging (GPI) diagnostic was proposed on the J-TEXT tokamak for the two-dimensional measurement of turbulence in the edge region. GPI is a diagnostic of plasma turbulence that uses a puff of neutral gas at the plasma edge to increase the local visible light emission for improved ...

The rectangular array of magnetic probes on J-TEXT tokamak

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2016
The rectangular array of magnetic probes system was newly designed and installed in the torus on J-TEXT tokamak to measure the local magnetic fields outside the last closed flux surface at a single toroidal angle. In the implementation, the experimental results agree well with the theoretical results based on the Spool model and three-dimensional ...

Microwave Reflectometer for Density Measurement on J-TEXT Tokamak

2020 IEEE 1st China International Youth Conference on Electrical Engineering (CIYCEE), 2020
Microwave reflectometer is an essential diagnostic tool with high spatial and temporal resolution for the measurement of plasma density profile. In recent years, a microwave reflectometry system has been developed and optimized on the J-TEXT tokamak. It consists of three parts: Q band (33-50GHz) with extra-ordinary mode (X-mode), V band (50-75GHz) with
