Quantum groups, Yang-Baxter maps and quasi-determinants

open access: yes, 2017
For any quasi-triangular Hopf algebra, there exists the universal R-matrix, which satisfies the Yang-Baxter equation. It is known that the adjoint action of the universal R-matrix on the elements of the tensor square of the algebra constitutes a quantum ...

Scarcity may promote cooperation in populations of simple agents [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In the study of the evolution of cooperation, resource limitations are usually assumed just to provide a finite population size. Recently, however, it has been pointed out that resource limitation may also generate dynamical payoffs able to modify the ...

Ab initio investigation of the exchange interactions in Bi$_2$Fe$_4$O$_9$: The Cairo pentagonal lattice compound [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We present the \emph{ab initio} calculation of the electronic structure and magnetic properties of Bi$_2$Fe$_4$O$_9$. This compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal structure with the Fe$^{3+}$ ions forming the Cairo pentagonal lattice implying ...

Digital transformation and enterprise value creation: A study based on both human capital upgrading and pay gap optimization

open access: yesInternational Review of Economics & Finance
Digital transformation is reshaping the model of enterprise value creation, steering it towards an ecosystem of stakeholder value cocreation. Core stakeholders—particularly executives and employees—play critical roles in this process, as value generation

Allergic Rhinitis Amplifies Asthma Risk in Patients With Chronic Rhinosinusitis: A Large‐Scale Retrospective Cohort Analysis

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) and allergic rhinitis (AR) are two highly prevalent airway diseases in the United States. While the coexistence of CRS and asthma is well recognized, less is known about the development of new‐onset asthma in CRS, particularly in the context of comorbid AR. This study assessed the impact of CRS and AR on

Anticlastic Curvature and Material Freedom

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), EarlyView.
Anticlastic curvature occurs in bent bars for positive Poisson's ratio; synclastic curvature occurs for negative Poisson's ratio provided the material is homogeneous and elastic. Some planar negative Poisson's ratio materials exhibit anticlastic saddle curvature rather than convex curvature in bending due to effects of 3D structure.

Sex Hormones and the Risk of Nasal Polyps: A Two‐Sample Mendelian Randomization Study

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The pathophysiological roles of sex hormones in airway inflammation have drawn much attention recently. We aimed to explore the causal effect of sex hormones on chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) and nasal polyps (NP) via a Mendelian randomization (MR) study.

Critical dislocation speed in helium-4 crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Our experiments show that in $^4$He crystals, the binding of $^3$He impurities to dislocations does not necessarily imply their pinning. Indeed, in these crystals, there are two different regimes of the motion of dislocations when impurities bind to them.

Evolution of the dipole polarizability in the stable tin isotope chain

open access: yes, 2020
The dipole polarizability of stable even-mass tin isotopes 112,114,116,118,120,124 was extracted from inelastic proton scattering experiments at 295 MeV under very forward angles performed at RCNP.
