Full Scale Field Study of Jack-In Piles
From Soil Behavior Fundamentals to Innovations in Geotechnical Engineering, 2014The prediction of pile-bearing capacity to include installation effects is a very complex problem, especially for jack-in piles. This paper describes a series of full scale pile load tests that shed light on the effects of jack-in force on the ultimate bearing capacity of jack-in piles.

Assessment of disturbance impact of hydraulic jacked-in pile penetration in artificial clayey soil
, 2020The jacked-in pile method provides a substitute procedure that permits the installation of pre-formed piles with negligible vibration in a noiseless manner, thereby reducing noise impacts in marine and urban environments. This research was carried out by

Deformational behaviour of steel sheet piles during jacking
Computers and Geotechnics, 2018In geotechnical engineering the simulation of penetration processes is an important tool for the prediction of the bearing capacity of structures and of the soil behaviour in the near field. Generally the numerical analysis of penetration processes is limited to penetrating bodies, which experience no deformation during simulation.

Modelling performance of jack-in piles
2010The installation of Jack-in piles involved the quasistatic insertion of a solid cylindrical or square pile into the ground by means of large hydraulic pressures. During the installation, the soil around the pile is pushed away and compacted while the stresses surrounding the pile are significantly increased.

DEM Analysis of Jacked Open-Ended Pile
2018This paper presents a distinct element method study on the installation effects of rigid driven open-ended piles subjected to force-control. A two-dimensional model of granular assembly is developed using the particle flow code. The model is generated under high gravity to simulate a deep foundation.

Design Approach for Piles Subject to Ice Jacking
Journal of Cold Regions Engineering, 1988The uplifting of marina piles clue to a process known as ice jacking (cyclic incremental pullout of the pile by an ice sheet) is a widespread phenomena in many large bodies of water in northern regions. An effort has been made to use existing field performance data as a basis for a rational design process by evaluating pile uplift damage at 33 Great ...
