A modeling analysis of grounding resistance and sea surface potential on the jacket foundation offshore wind turbines

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
Offshore wind turbines (WTs) are frequently exposed to the risk from lightning, storm, and waves. As a kind of fixed foundations, jacket foundation can effectively reduce the correlatively risk and loss.

Comparative Study on Wave Elevations Downstream of Monopile- and Jacket-Mounted Offshore Wind Turbines

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Offshore wind turbines, especially the fixed-bottom type, have been commercialized and installed in recent years. Generally, an offshore sub-structure such as a monopile or a jacket foundation is adopted to secure offshore wind turbines.

Numerical Implementation of HSS Model for Horizontal Loading of a Jacket Foundation with Four Monopiles in Seabed

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
For geotechnical structures with a strict control requirement of deformation, the high modulus and non-linear attenuation characteristics of the surrounding soil under small-strain conditions cannot be ignored during performance evaluation; the HSS ...

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

The Influence of Field‐Assisted Sintering Technology (FAST) Temperature and Cooling Rate on the Microstructural Evolution in Gamma‐Titanium Aluminide Alloy GE4822

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Controlling the Field Assisted Sintering Technology (FAST) parameters, dwell temperature and cooling rate, significantly influences the microstructural evolution in titanium aluminide GE4822. Significant γ‐lamellar colonies develop only upon cooling through the α‐transus.

A Fully Defined GelMA‐Based Matrix Allows Fine Tuning of Tissue‐Relevant Biomechanical and Biochemical Cues for Organoid Culture

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A fully defined GelMA‐based ECM platform integrates tunable tissue‐relevant stiffness with laminin–entactin biochemical supplementation to support mouse small intestinal organoid growth. Coordinated control of mechanical and biochemical cues promotes robust proliferation, budding morphogenesis, differentiation, and passaging, providing a reproducible ...

Beyond Nanoporosity: A CO2‐Conditioned Glassy Matrix Contributes to the Brittle‐to‐Ductile Transition of Nanocellular Polyetherimide

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The mechanical performance of nanocellular polyetherimide cannot be explained by nanoporosity alone. It is shown that CO2 saturation and desorption leave a distinct mechanical signature in the glassy matrix before foaming. This matrix contribution provides a new route to understand and optimize the brittle to ductile transition in nanocellular polymers.

Axial Dynamic Stiffness of Tubular Piles in Viscoelastic Soil

open access: yesEnergies, 2016
Large offshore wind turbines are founded on jacket structures. In this study, an elastic full-space jacket structure foundation in an elastic and viscoelastic medium is investigated by using boundary integral equations. The jacket structure foundation is
