Case study on structural health assessment for existing reinforced concrete building

open access: yesStructural Mechanics of Engineering Constructions and Buildings, 2021
Retrofitting is a method of renovating/repairing and strengthening the weak structure that was affected due to the excessive load on structure during any uncertainty load like earthquake or due to end of service life of the infrastructure. The objectives

Prefabricated Ferrocement Jacket for Repairing and Strengthening Axially Loaded Square Sub-Standard Concrete Stub Columns

open access: yesBuildings, 2023
For decades, ferrocement has been used to repair, strengthen, and even build structural components because it is a long-lasting and reasonably priced material. However, onsite ferrocement jacketing is time-consuming and labour-intensive.

Numerical Modeling of Tank Cars Carrying Hazardous Materials With and Without Composite Metal Foam

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Large‐scale puncture models consisting of hazardous materials (HAZMATs) tank car with protective steel–steel composite metal foam (S–S CMF) are solved numerically. Tank car plate with added 10.91–13.33 mm thick S–S CMF layer does not puncture. Protective S–S CMF absorbs impact energy, reduces plate deformation, and prevents shear bands formation ...

Numerical investigation for strengthened RC footings with square concrete jacketing

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials, 2022
Strengthening of existing isolated footings using concrete jacketing is a traditional method to increase the load-carrying capacity and to enhance the performance of isolated footings. This paper presents a parametric study and a numerical validation for

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Evaluation of Ultimate Strength of Reinforced Concrete Beams Strengthened with FRP Sheets under Torsion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The ultimate torque of reinforced concrete (RC) members strengthened with fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) sheets does not only depend on the torque of RC members, but also on the FRP contribution to the torque.
