Food inflation pass‐through from agricultural imports in a small open economy
Abstract This paper develops a new framework for quantifying cost pass‐through in a small open economy by estimating firm‐level markup responses to agricultural import price shocks. We show theoretically that markup adjustments depend on firms' reliance on imported inputs and demand curvature, generating heterogeneous inflationary effects across firm ...

Model‐Enabled Knowledge Transfer Across Cell Lines, Culture Scales and Conditions
ABSTRACT Mechanistic models are central to quantitative understanding and optimization of Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell culture processes, but their utility is often restricted by parameter sets calibrated for specific cell lines, scales, or operating conditions.

Abstract Hybrid models (HMs) combine fundamental model (FM) equations with empirical components. These models can lead to improved predictions because they reduce process/model mismatch and can account for phenomena that are not considered in the FM equations.

On a third order iterative method for solving polynomial operator equations
We present a semilocal convergence result for a Newton-type method applied to a polynomial operator equation of degree \(2\). The method consists in fact in evaluating the Jacobian at every two steps, and it has the \(r\)-convergence order at least \(3\).

Stability Anomalies of Some Jacobian-Free Iterative Methods of High Order of Convergence
In this manuscript, we design two classes of parametric iterative schemes to solve nonlinear problems that do not need to evaluate Jacobian matrices and need to solve three linear systems per iteration with the same divided difference operator as the ...

Front Propagation Through a Perforated Wall
ABSTRACT We consider a bistable reaction– diffusion equation ut=Δu+f(u)$u_t=\Delta u +f(u)$ on RN${\mathbb {R}}^N$ in the presence of an obstacle K$K$, which is a wall of infinite span with many holes. More precisely, K$K$ is a closed subset of RN${\mathbb {R}}^N$ with smooth boundary such that its projection onto the x1$x_1$‐axis is bounded and that ...

The impact of forced closure on proppant distribution of hydraulic fracturing in shale formations
Research findings demonstrate that implementing forced closure within shale formations can remarkably mitigate proppant settlement, concurrently increasing the effective propped surface area from 29.74% to 38.68%. Abstract Forced closure is widely used in conventional oil and gas reservoirs to promote uniform proppant placement.

Markowitz-Type Heuristics for Computing Jacobian Matrices Efficiently [PDF]
We consider the problem of accumulating the Jacobian matrix of a nonlinear vector function by using a minimal number of arithmetic operations. Two new Markowitz-type heuristics are proposed for vertex elimination in linearized computational graphs, and their superiority over existing approaches is shown by several tests.
