Janus Particle Synthesis, Assembly, and Application

Langmuir, 2017
Janus particles are colloidal particles with more than a single type of surface chemistry or composition, ranging in size from hundreds of nanometers to a few micrometers. Like traditional colloids, they are large enough to be observed under optical microscopy in real time and small enough to diffuse by Brownian motion, but their interesting and useful

Fabrication, properties and applications of Janus particles

Chemical Society Reviews, 2012
Although the concept of Janus particles was raised in the early 1990s, the related research has not attracted considerable interest until recently due to the special properties and applications of these colloidal particles as well as the advances in new fabrications.

Interactions between Janus particles and membranes

Nanoscale, 2012
Understanding how nanoparticles interact with cell membranes is of great importance in drug/gene delivery. In this paper, we investigate the interactions between Janus particles and membranes by using dissipative particle dynamics, and find that there exist two different modes (i.e., insertion and engulfment) in the Janus particle-membrane interactions.

Adsorption of Janus particles to curved interfaces

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2007
We investigate the adsorption of a spherical Janus particle to a spherically curved liquid-liquid interface. We show that the equilibrium contact angle is determined by the geometry of the particle, its wettability, and also the interfacial curvature.
