Luminescent elastomeric Janus particles

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2013
We report on a low-cost and low-tech method for the preparation of luminescent micro- and millimeter elastomeric particles with asymmetric morphology. The method of fabrication consists in UV-irradiating soft urethane/urea fluorescent spheres, which are then extracted in toluene and dried.

Multifunctional Superparamagnetic Janus Particles

Langmuir, 2009
In this study, we report the microfluidic-based synthesis of a multifunctional Janus hydrogel particle with anisotropic superparamagnetic properties and chemical composition for the bottom-up assembly of hydrogel superstructures. In a uniform magnetic field, the resulting Janus magnetic particles fabricated in the present method exhibit chainlike or ...

PAA‐PU Janus Hydrogels Stabilized by Janus Particles and its Interfacial Performance During Hemostatic Processing

Advanced Healthcare Materials
Hydrogel is a very promising dressing for hemostasis and wound healing due to its good adhesion and long‐term moist environment. However, secondary injury caused by tissue adhesion due to homogeneous hydrogel cannot be ignored.

Hybrid Janus Particles: Challenges and Opportunities for the Design of Active Functional Interfaces and Surfaces.

ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, 2019
Janus particles are a unique class of multifunctional patchy particles combining two dissimilar chemical or physical functionalities at their opposite sides. The asymmetry characteristic for Janus particles allows them to self-assemble into sophisticated

Morphing Metal–Polymer Janus Particles

Advanced Materials, 2013
The direct deformation and shape recovery of micron-sized polystyrene particles via nanoimprint lithography is reported. The recovery of the programmed PS particles can be utilized to create a range of smart Janus particles with contrasting properties in conductivity and topography, by use of metal-layer constrained recovery.

Self‐Propelling Janus Particles for Hemostasis in Perforating and Irregular Wounds with Massive Hemorrhage

Advanced Functional Materials, 2020
Achieving rapid and safe control of perforating and irregular hemorrhage, defined as bleeding wounds with irregular external and internal wound shape, located deep within complex and covert hemorrhage sites, is vital to decrease the risk of mortality ...

Janus molecularly imprinted polymer particles

Chem. Commun., 2014
Janus MIP particles were synthesized via a wax–water Pickering emulsion. The MIP microtransporter concept provided the Janus MIP particles with attractive capabilities for autonomous binding and controlled drug delivery.

Janus Particle Synthesis and Assembly

Advanced Materials, 2010
AbstractJanus particles, colloid‐sized particles with two regions of different surface chemical composition, possess energetic interactions that depend not only on their separation but also on their orientation. Research on Janus and colloidal particles that are chemically patchy in even more complicated fashion has opened a new chapter in the colloid ...

Synthesis of Biofunctional Janus Particles

Macromolecular Rapid Communications, 2015
Janus particles with anisotropic biofunctionalities are perfect models to mimic anisotropic architectures and directional interactions that occur in nature. It is therefore highly desirable to develop reliable and efficient methods to synthesize biofunctional Janus particles.

Macrophage Uptake of Janus Particles Depends upon Janus Balance

Langmuir, 2015
Properties of synthetic particles, such as size and shape, influence how immune cells uptake vaccine and drug carriers. Here, we explore the role of a new property, anisotropic presentation of ligands, in particle uptake by macrophage cells. We use micrometer-sized Janus particles that are partially coated with ligands and investigate how the ligand ...
