Conelike Janus Composite Particles

Macromolecules, 2015
Conelike cross-linked PS particles are polymerized at a patchy emulsion interface. The PS particles synthesized in the dispersed paraffin phase immigrate toward the interface due to the Pickering effect. At the triple phase contact line, the particles are squeezed into cone shape under an outward convex interfacial tension mismatch.

Stimuli‐Responsive Janus Particles

Particle & Particle Systems Characterization, 2013
Due to their complex behavior, Janus particles became a highly attractive research topic. Particularly, interesting groups of Janus particles are the ones that are sensitive to external signals such as change of temperature, pH, light, etc. These Janus particles are able to dynamically assemble/disassemble to forming very complex structures or ...

Hydrophilic/Oleophilic Magnetic Janus Particles for the Rapid and Efficient Oil–Water Separation

Advanced Functional Materials, 2018
The separation of microsized oil droplets from water is strongly required by the environmental protection and petroleum industry. However, the separation of microsized oil droplets from water is often ignored.

Pt-SiO2 Janus Particles and the Water/Oil Interface - A Competition Between Motility and Thermodynamics.

Langmuir, 2020
Various aspects of the behavior of Janus particles near liquid/liquid interfaces have been studied through different experimental and theoretical realizations, but the effect of motility on the behavior of Janus particles near liquid/liquid interfaces ...

Viscosity-Dependent Janus Particle Chain Dynamics

Langmuir, 2013
Iron oxide (Fe3O4) Janus particles assemble into staggered chains parallel to the field lines in an ac electric field. Subsequent application of an external magnetic field leads to contraction of the staggered chains into double chains. The relation between the viscosity of the surrounding solution and the contraction rate of the iron oxide Janus ...

Temperature-Responsive Janus Particles as Microsurfactants for On-Demand Coalescence of Emulsions.

Small, 2020
A new strategy that utilizes temperature-responsive wax-based Janus particles as microsurfactants to simultaneously achieve enhanced emulsion stability, as well as, on-demand coalescence of emulsion droplets is presented.

Bipolar Janus particle assembly in microdevice

ELECTROPHORESIS, 2015
In recent years, there are significant interests in the manipulation of bipolar Janus particles. In this article, we investigate the transient behavior of the electro‐orientation process and particle–particle interaction of ellipsoidal bipolar Janus particles in the presence and absence of a DC electric field.

Self-Propelled Janus Particles

2021
Design and operation of Janus particles have a great potential for applications in fields such as environmental remediation, electronic engineering, bio-imaging, bio-sensing, drug delivery and other biomedical tasks. Current research aims to imitate the molecular motors of biological systems by creating micro- and nano-scale particles which can exploit
