Airborne contact dermatitis due to Japanese cedar pollen

Contact dermatitis caused by airborne antigen is a well‐recognized problem. Previously, airborne contact dermatitis after contact with Japanese cedar pollen [Japanese cedar pollen dermatitis (JCPD)] has been reported in Japan. However, there is still no diagnostic test to evaluate contact dermatitis due to Japanese cedar pollen.

Platelet-activating factor in Japanese cedar pollinosis.

The concentration of lyso-PAF in serum from untreated patients with Japanese cedar pollinosis, a typical allergic disease, was significantly higher than that in healthy controls. It was also found that the lyso-PAF level in serum from Japanese cedar pollinosis significantly decreased after therapy with ketotifen, an anti-allergic drug.
