Oesophageal Epithelial Cell-Intrinsic MHCII Regulates Food Antigen-Dependent Eosinophilic Esophagitis in an IFNγ-Dependent Manner. [PDF]

We found that oesophageal epithelial cells upregulate MHCII expression during active EoE in humans and a mouse model. MHCII expression by EECs was governed by IFNγ‐inducible transcriptional elements. EEC‐intrinsic MHCII promoted regulatory T cell accumulation and attenuated eosinophilic oesophageal inflammation.

Vasculature‐Associated Lymphoid Tissue (VALT) is a significant tertiary lymphoid tissue that contributes to kidney inflammation and has not yet been identified in ruminants. Our study revealed that VALT in goats consists of typical immune cells, including macrophages, T cells, B cells and high endothelial venules.
