Weak edge effects on trees in Bornean rainforest remnants bordering oil palm
Edge effects have consequences for rainforest tree communities, particularly in highly fragmented agricultural landscapes. We studied edge effects in forests bordering oil palm plantations in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo, and found that loss of large trees caused a significant reduction in aboveground carbon near edges.

Even small forest patches increase bee visits to flowers in an oil palm plantation landscape
We observed bee visits to flowers of six plant species within an oil palm plantation in Indonesian Borneo. Visitation frequency decreased with distance from forest and was highest for flowers near large, continuous forests compared to a small forest fragment.
