Sedimentary ancient DNA from caves: Challenges and opportunities

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, Volume 40, Issue 4, Page 565-578, May 2025.
Abstract Caves are unique depositional environments that hold great potential for long‐term preservation of DNA due to their typically cool and stable internal climates, buffered from external climate extremes. Bones from caves have long been recognised as an excellent source of ancient DNA, yet the potential for DNA preservation in cave sediments ...

Sediment‐hosted disseminated gold mineralization at the Gegalaw deposit in Central Myanmar

open access: yesResource Geology, Volume 74, Issue 1, January‐December 2024.
The Gegalaw Au deposit is hosted mainly by framboidal pyrite‐rich carbonaceous and calcareous shale of the Eocene Male Formation. The orebodies are silicified breccia occurring along the NE‐trending secondary faults associated with the major N‐trending Sagaing Fault.

RED JASPEROIDS FROM THE AREA OF THE UKRAINIAN ANTARCTIC RESEARCH STATION

open access: yesGeologìčnij žurnal (Geological Journal)
Red jasper-like rocks from the area of the Akademik Vernadsky Station are known since the time of the first Ukrainian Antarctic expeditions. But until now, all the published information about them was limited to only one brief mention in the abstract of the report by Mytrokhyn and Bakhmutov (2017). This article summarizes all available data about these

Investigation of Metal and Organic Contaminant Distributions and Sedimentation Rates in Backwater Lakes along the Illinois River [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Systematic sub-sampling of sediment cores in sections of uniform thickness is necessary in order to evaluate historic changes in sediment quality, to determine the vertical extent of contamination, and to measure sedimentation rates.
