CEV: collaborative environment for visualization using Java RMI

Concurrency: Practice and Experience, 1998
Collaborative visualization is an active area of research in computer science. Many different techniques and implementations have been proposed. However, most of today's systems require many high-end graphics workstations. By implementing a new technique that separates the 2D and 3D components of the visualization process, we have developed a system ...

Streaming support for Java RMI in distributed environments

Proceedings of the 4th international symposium on Principles and practice of programming in Java - PPPJ '06, 2006
In this paper we present novel methodologies for enhancing the streaming capabilities of Java RMI. Our streaming support for Java RMI includes the pushing mechanism, which allows servers to push data in a streaming fashion to the client site, and the aggregation mechanism, which allows the client site to make a single remote invocation to gather data ...

Solutions to make Java-RMI time predictable

Fourth IEEE International Symposium on Object-Oriented Real-Time Distributed Computing. ISORC 2001, 2002
Java-RMI is a well-known distribution middleware framework that allows the invocation of remote methods. The paper describes the extension of Java-RMI model to make the remote method calls time predictable. We identify the problems of the jdk implementation of RMI and propose solutions to implement the Java-RMI extended model.

FORMI: Integrating Adaptive Fragmented Objects into Java RMI

IEEE Distributed Systems Online, 2006
Distributed object-oriented applications are commonly implemented atop middleware platforms such as CORBA, .NET Remoting, and Java remote method invocation (RMI). These platforms provide a simple mechanism to invoke methods of remote objects.

A novel Java RMI middleware design for active networks

2004 IEEE Region 10 Conference TENCON 2004., 2004
Java RMI (remote method invocation) facilitates the complicated procedure of developing large-scale distributed applications. However, this paradigm suffers from a centralized bottleneck problem when many clients send requests to a server simultaneously.

Implementation of Distributed Application using RMI Java threads

2007 IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology, 2007
In this paper, we suggest a mechanism for implementing a distributed application using RMI based on JAVA threads. The application is parallel matrices multiplication depending on distributed the products of rows and columns on different machines. One server and three clients are run to find the product of matrix multiplication.

A Prototype Grid System Using Java and RMI

2003
Grids aim to combine different kinds of computational resources connected by the Internet and make them easily available to a wide user community. While initial research focused on creating the enabling infra-structure, the challenge of programming the Grid has recently become increasingly important.

Experiment on Embedding Interception Service into Java RMI

2004
Middleware interceptors are a well-recognized powerful technique that enables the extensions of the middleware functionality in a way transparent to both the existing middleware implementations and the distributed applications built on top of them. In recent CORBA specifications, OMG has provided the standard specification of portable interceptors ...
