Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

A computationally tractable version of the collective model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A computationally tractable version of the Bohr-Mottelson collective model is presented which makes it possible to diagonalize realistic collective models and obtain convergent results in relatively small appropriately chosen subspaces of the collective ...

Reduction of Oxide Inclusions During the High‐Frequency Welding of Steel via a Nonthermal Ar/H2 Plasma Jet

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...

Literary Fiction Indicates Early Modernization in China Prior to Western Influence

open access: yesSociological Science
Modernization refers to the shift from traditional values to individual autonomy and self-development, driven by economic development. Previously considered unique to Western culture, modernization has now emerged as a global phenomenon, with East Asia ...

Gene Transfer into Subcultured Endometrial Cells Using Lipofection

open access: yesBioTechniques, 1996
Lipofection using the Lipofectin® reagent was optimized to transiently transfect subcultured guinea pig endometrial stromal cells with a β-galactosidase gene driven by a simian virus 40 promoter.

Analyzing Electronic Excitations and Exciton Binding Energies in Y6 Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The Y6 molecule is used for increasing the efficiency of organic solar cells. The exciton binding energy is calculated for ensembles of Y6 molecules that are representative of the typically used films. The calculations show that the excitons typically spread out over many molecules.

Strategies for EU survival: bind states to cooperate, improve democratic legitimacy, and make the decision making process more efficient [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Public unease with the European Union, Euro problems, and dysfunctional institutions give rise to the real danger that the EU will become increasing irrelevant, just as its member states face more and more challenges in a globalised world.

Computability Closure: Ten Years Later [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The notion of computability closure has been introduced for proving the termination of higher-order rewriting with first-order matching by Jean-Pierre Jouannaud and Mitsuhiro Okada in a 1997 draft which later served as a basis for the author's PhD.

Improved Creep Resistance at 1000°C of a Medium Entropy Alloy by the In Situ Formation of Intergranular MC Carbides

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Innovation and Applied Sciences
A Cantor’s alloy with modified contents in manganese and chromium, elaborated by classical foundry, was enriched either in tantalum and carbon or in hafnium and carbon, to promote the formation of MC carbides to try improving the poor creep resistance of

All‐in‐One Analog AI Hardware: On‐Chip Training and Inference with Conductive‐Metal‐Oxide/HfOx ReRAM Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐in‐one analog AI accelerator is presented, enabling on‐chip training, weight retention, and long‐term inference acceleration. It leverages a BEOL‐integrated CMO/HfOx ReRAM array with low‐voltage operation (<1.5 V), multi‐bit capability over 32 states, low programming noise (10 nS), and near‐ideal weight transfer.
