Engineered Bacillus subtilis regulates intestinal barrier in ETEC K88‐infected piglets and modulates miR‐1250‐5p/NFκB pathway in IPEC‐J2

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
Upon enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) K88 infection, intestinal barrier function is disrupted with compromised tight junctions, accompanied by an exacerbated inflammatory response, proliferation of pathogenic Escherichia, and depletion of beneficial Lactobacillus paralimentarius.

Changes in the gut microbiome during fasting‐induced molting and its effects on gut–liver function

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
During fasting, harmful microbiota and metabolites rise, triggering intestinal injury and activation of the TGF‐β signaling pathway, which enhances intestinal stem cell proliferation. Concurrently, hepatic function declines, indicated by increased hepatic and serum bile acids and upregulation of the non‐classical bile acid synthesis pathway.

Tryptophan transport by isolated newborn rabbit jejunum

open access: yes, 1980
Segments of newborn or adult rabbit jejunum were mounted as flat sheets in flux chambers. Mucosal-to-serosal (Jm leads to s) and serosal-to-mucosal (Js leads to m) fluxes of tryptophan (Try), phenylalanine (Phe), and alanine (Ala) were measured in the ...
