The major silk gene, h‐fibroin, was annotated in high‐quality genomes of two unusual case‐making Trichoptera. H‐Fibroin of Limnocentropus insolitus shows a similar amino acid composition to other case‐making species, while the amino acid composition of h‐fibroin of Phryganopsyche brunnea resembles that of retreat‐making species.

An Adapted Slipping Process to Exclude Jellyfish in the Sea of Marmara Purse Seine Fishery
Excluding the jellyfish from the bunt-end is a common slipping process used in the Sea of Marmara purse seine fishery. For this aim, a sheet of netting piece, larger mesh size and thicker diameter, is rigged on the bunt-end of the purse seine net.

Pattern regulation in a regenerating jellyfish [PDF]
Jellyfish, with their tetraradial symmetry, offer a novel paradigm for addressing patterning mechanisms during regeneration. Here we show that an interplay between mechanical forces, cell migration and proliferation allows jellyfish fragments to regain shape and functionality rapidly, notably by efficient restoration of the central feeding organ ...

Jellyfish Stings Trigger Gill Disorders and Increased Mortality in Farmed Sparus aurata (Linnaeus, 1758) in the Mediterranean Sea. [PDF]
Jellyfish are of particular concern for marine finfish aquaculture. In recent years repeated mass mortality episodes of farmed fish were caused by blooms of gelatinous cnidarian stingers, as a consequence of a wide range of hemolytic, cytotoxic, and ...

We should not assume that fishing jellyfish will solve our jellyfish problem [PDF]
Abstract Whether jellyfish are increasing or not in the global ocean is a subject of some debate, but the fact remains that when they bloom, jellyfish can negatively affect local economies. Despite this, there has been no robust debate about the idea of deliberately removing jellyfish as a means of population control.

Ultrasmall 2D Sn‐Doped MAPbBr3 Nanoplatelets Enable Bright Pure‐Blue Emission
This study introduces a novel room‐temperature method for synthesizing ultrasmall Sn‐doped MAPbBr3 nanoplatelets that exhibit pure blue emission with a narrow full width at half maximum. This result is achieved by incorporating octylamine into both the precursor and antisolvent to suppress rapid growth.

Social behaviour in mesopelagic jellyfish [PDF]
AbstractGelatinous organisms apparently play a central role in deep pelagic ecosystems, but lack of observational methodologies has restricted information on their behaviour. We made acoustic records of diel migrating jellyfish Periphylla periphylla forming small, ephemeral groups at the upper fringe of an acoustic scattering layer consisting of krill.
