Ocular surface disease in atopic dermatitis

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 104, Issue S291, Page S4-S28, June 2026.
ENGLISH SUMMARY Atopic keratoconjunctivitis (AKC) is a severe ocular surface disease (OSD) that significantly affects patients' quality of life and can lead to blindness. AKC is associated with atopic dermatitis (AD), a common chronic inflammatory skin disease affecting both children and adults.

The formation of self‐concept and intrinsic value in arts‐related domains: Extending the generalized internal/external frame of reference model to music and visual arts

open access: yesBritish Journal of Educational Psychology, Volume 96, Issue 2, Page 558-576, June 2026.
Abstract Background The internal/external frame of reference (I/E) model explains the formation of domain‐specific academic self‐concepts. The generalized I/E (GI/E) model extends the I/E model to other motivational constructs, such as intrinsic value, and to various school subjects.

Safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of the spleen tyrosine kinase inhibitor BI 894416 in healthy volunteers and patients with asthma

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 11, Page 2660-2674, June 2026.
Abstract Background and Purpose Spleen tyrosine kinase (SYK) has broad biological functions in inflammation and immunity. The orally administered SYK inhibitor BI 894416 was investigated in a single‐rising‐dose Phase I study in healthy volunteers and in a combined single‐ and multiple‐rising‐dose Phase Ib study in patients with mild asthma ...

Urban Tolerance of Orthoptera Is Strongly Related to National Red List Status and Population Trends

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 32, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Quantifying the extent to which a species can tolerate urban environments is crucial for prioritising conservation efforts. By using a large citizen science dataset, we analysed the species‐specific urban tolerance of Orthoptera and examined how urban tolerance relates to Red List category, population status and population trends ...

The competitive interplay of 12‐oxophytodienoic acid (OPDA), protein thiols, and glutathione

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 293, Issue 12, Page 3683-3705, June 2026.
12‐Oxophytodienoic acid (OPDA) is a phytohormone involved in plant growth and stress defense. Due to its cyclopentenone moiety, OPDA can form Michael adducts with thiol‐containing compounds such as glutathione and cysteine residues of proteins, resulting in alterations of the cellular redox regulatory network.
