Comparison of H-mode plasmas in JET-ILW and JET-C with and without nitrogen seeding [PDF]
In high confinement mode, highly shaped plasmas with edge localized modes in JET, and for heating power of 15-17 MW, the edge fluid code EDGE2D-EIRENE predicts transition to detachment assisted by nitrogen at the low field side (LFS) target when more ...

Tritium retention characteristics in dust particles in JET with ITER-like wall
A tritium imaging plate technique (TIPT) in combination with an electron-probe microscopic analysis (EPMA) were applied to examine tritium (T) retention characteristics in individual dust particles collected in the Joint European Torus with the ITER-like

Space Weather Challenge and Forecasting Implications of Rossby Waves
Abstract Rossby waves arise in thin layers within fluid regions of stars and planets. These global wave‐like patterns occur due to the variation in Coriolis forces with latitude. In the past several years observational evidence has indicated that there are also Rossby waves in the Sun.

Introduction. Knockdown resistance (kdr) is strongly linked to pyrethroid insecticide resistance in Anopheles gambiae in Africa, which may have vital significance to the current increased use of pyrethroid‐treated bed net programmes. The study is aimed at determining species composition, levels of insecticide resistance, and knockdown patterns in ...

Deuterium retention in the divertor tiles of JET ITER-Like wall
Divertor tiles removed after the second JET ITER-Like Wall campaign 2013–2014 (ILW-2) were studied using Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS). Measurements show that the thickest beryllium (Be) dominated deposition layers are located at the upper part ...

Characterising W radiation in JET-ILW plasmas [PDF]
A fundamental change of plasma behaviour since the ILW is that edge pedestals in ELMy H-modes are considerably colder than they were in Carbon, even for comparable fuelling levels [1,2]. This is interesting in itse lf, and also has implications for scenario development, since reduced core confinement is corr elated with the lower pedestal.

Recent H majority inverted radio frequency heating scheme experiments in JET-ILW
Inverted 3He and D ion cyclotron minority heating scenarios were recently tested in JET-ILW. They confirm the good heating efficiency at low concentrations of ∼3%. The 3He minority heating scheme is only modestly affected by the change from a carbon (JET-

In the past at JET, with the MkI divertor, a systematic study of the influence of X-point height and poloidal flux expansion has been conducted [1,2] showing minor differences in the radiation distribution, whereas in [3] experiment and simulations have ...
