Topology optimization and finite element analysis of a jet dragster engine mount

open access: yesCogent Engineering, 2020
In a jet dragster race car, the engine mount is one of the important components of an engine sub-assembly. The mounting system is the primary interface between the jet engine and the vehicle chassis, firmly containing the engine and transmitting forces ...

Properties of Novel High Temperature Titanium Alloys for Aerospace Applications [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2020
The attractive combination of strength and low density has resulted in titanium alloys covering 15 to 25% of the weight of a modern jet engine, with titanium currently being used in fan, compressor and nozzle components.

Parameters of fuel jet extraction in video [PDF]

open access: yesTransport, 2005
The statistical rating of the image of a fuel jet allows to allocate the zones with homogeneous brightness, to define the distribution of masses and the concentration in a fuel jet and to look after their dynamics.

Effect of flow in the circular 90-degree curved nozzles on ejecting oil jet behavior

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2021
In general, technical methods for improving the thermal efficiency of an engine increase the heat load on peripheral components. Recently, a piston cooling gallery equipped with a flow path has been developed.

Propagation Properties of Gaussian Schell-Model Beam Array in the Jet Engine Exhaust Induced Turbulence

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
The effects of the jet engine turbulence on a Gaussian Schell-Model (GSM) beam array propagating in a jet engine plume are studied theoretically. The analytical expressions of the cross-spectral density (CSD) function, the spectral degree of coherence ...

Microscale engine swimming underwater powered by Marangoni convection

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2016
This study proposes a prototype of a microscale engine swimming underwater powered by Marangoni convection. The engine is a layered disk with a hole and holds a bubble ring in a gap between the layers.

Modelling exhaust plume mixing in the near field of an aircraft [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales Geophysicae, 1997
A simplified approach has been applied to analyse the mixing and entrainment processes of the engine exhaust through their interaction with the vortex wake of an aircraft.

The analysis of “more electric engine” technology to improve the environmental performance of aircraft jet engine

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
In aviation, there is now a dynamic development of aircraft equipment related to the implementation of “more electric aircraft” technology. This concept offers the ability to improve the use of on-board systems, e.g. environmental operating conditions of

Simple Thermodynamics of Jet Engines [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Physics, 2010
We use the first and second laws of thermodynamics to analyze the behavior of an ideal jet engine. Simple analytical expressions for the thermal efficiency, the overall efficiency, and the reduced thrust are derived. We show that the thermal efficiency depends only on the compression ratio r and on the velocity of the aircraft.
