Performance Evaluation of Rice Bran Oil—Waste Cooking Oil Binary Blend‐Based Biodiesel With Normal Diesel in CI Engine

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study evaluates the performance and emissions of CI engines using biodiesel blends derived from rice bran and waste cooking oil, revealing that a 30% biodiesel blend significantly reduces emissions, while a 70% blend affects specific engine parameters. ABSTRACT This research investigates the performance, combustion, and emission characteristics of

Estimation of the GCV of Coal Using Real‐Time Plant Data

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 2, Page 905-915, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Online or real‐time strategies of estimating the gross calorific value (GCV) of coal are still not fully explored in academic literature, even though both conventional and sophisticated offline methods for estimating the GCV are well described.

Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) Challenges in Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 2, Page 1067-1080, February 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper presents a state‐of‐the‐art literature review on noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) in hydrogen‐fuelled internal combustion engines. Studies published between 2011 and 2025 were screened, covering fundamental flame physics, test‐bench work, and recent prototype vehicles.

Correlation of Projected Flame Height for Impinging Horizontal Jet Flames

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions
Horizontal jet flame is said to be among the most dangerous types of fire considering a possible impingement effect on nearby facilities. Numerous studies have been conducted and assessed for geometrical flame features of jet flames as it imposed dangers

Assessing the Mixing Quality of Hetero‐Aggregates: Applying Mixing Theory to STEM‐EDX Elemental Maps

open access: yesParticle &Particle Systems Characterization, Volume 43, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study introduces a quantitative method to assess the mixing quality of carbon black‐silica hetero‐aggregates formed in spray flames. Using STEM‐EDX mapping and concepts from mixing theory, the approach characterizes intra‐ and inter‐aggregate homogeneity and particle clustering, enabling precise, composition‐independent evaluation of hetero ...

A Causal Relationship Between Boron Seeds and the Selectivity and Growth Mode of Boron Nitride Nanotubes in Inductively‐Coupled Plasma

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 9, 12 February 2026.
Boron seed formation governs BNNT selectivity in an inductively‐coupled plasma system. Local thermodynamics and flow conditions control the abundance and the size of these seeds. BNNT selectivity scales with seed abundance, while the nanotube diameters remain largely unaffected despite seed size changes.

Evaluating Antibiotic Resistance in Urban Rivers and Coral Reefs of Belize: Evidence for Hotspots and a Potential Screening Tool

open access: yesGeoHealth, Volume 10, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Antibiotic resistance is a significant threat to global public health and can disproportionately affect low‐ and middle‐ income countries (LMICs). There is a lack of studies focusing on antibiotic resistance in coral reef regions and environmental reservoirs in Central America.

Reconstructing Environmental and Microbial Ecosystem Changes Across the Permian–Triassic Mass Extinction at Lusitaniadalen, Svalbard

open access: yesPaleoceanography and Paleoclimatology, Volume 41, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract The Permian–Triassic environmental crisis triggered fundamental changes in marine ecosystems, culminating in the most severe biodiversity crisis of the Phanerozoic. Yet, the environmental and geochemical conditions governing the crisis and ecosystem recovery remain debated.
