Environmental fluid dynamics-jet flow
Journal of Hydrodynamics, 2010Jet flow is a very important research subject in both fundamental fluid dynamics and engineering applications. Jet flow has the essences of fluid dynamics, such as free and wall-bounded shear flows, turbulent flow, eddy and large vortical structures and their stability and control, and so forth.

Computer-controlled fluid jet polishing
SPIE Proceedings, 2007Fluid jet polishing (FJP) is a new figuring process in optical manufacturing. In this paper, we introduced some recent research results on FJP. Firstly, the distribution of removal function and the mechanism of material removal were studied and it is concluded that the material was removed by the collision and shear actions between abrasive particles ...

Physics of Fluids, 2004
Similarity solutions for laminar two-fluid jets and wakes are derived in the boundary-layer approximation. Planar and axisymmetric fan jets as well as classical and momentumless planar wakes are considered. The interface between the immiscible fluids is stabilized by the action of gravity, with the heavier fluid, taken to be a liquid, placed beneath ...

Interactive 3D fluid jet painting
ACM SIGGRAPH 2006 Sketches on - SIGGRAPH '06, 2006We present an interactive system which allows users to create abstract paintings in the style of Jackson Pollock using three dimensional viscous fluid jets. Pollock's paintings were created by using streams of household paint to make guided, semi-random patterns on his canvas.

Functional fluid jetting performance optimization
Microelectronics Reliability, 2010Abstract The manufacturing method utilizing digital printing technology offers alternatives to create electronic structures to be used even in microelectronic applications. Material deposition based on digital inkjet technology offers advantages over both traditional mask-etch technologies and other printing methods.

Dwell function algorithm in fluid jet polishing
Applied Optics, 2006Considering the special characteristics of the removal function with the ring-shaped profile in fluid jet polishing (FJP), we present an effective method called the discrete convolution algorithm to compute the dwell function for controlling the figuring process. This method avoids the deconvolution operation, which usually fails to converge.

Precipitative Growth Templated by a Fluid Jet
Langmuir, 2005Tubular growth by chemical precipitation at the interface between two fluids, a jet and its surroundings, underlies the development of such important structures as chimneys at hydrothermal vents. This growth is associated with strong thermal and/or solute gradients localized at those interfaces, and these gradients, in turn, often produce radial ...
