Homogeneous turbulence in a random-jet-stirred tank [PDF]
We report an investigation into random-jet-stirred homogeneous turbulence generated in a vertical octagonal prism shaped tank where there are jet arrays on four of the eight vertical faces. We show that the turbulence is homogeneous at all scales in the central region of the tank that spans multiple integral scales in all directions.

Slender axisymmetric fluid jets
Fluid fibres and jets are described, in general, by free boundary Navier Stokes problems. If the ratio of the cross section of the jet is small compared to the axial length scale of the jet or fibre, then the free boundary problem can be significantly simplified, and a greatly simplified system of (nonlinear) partial differential equations obtained. In

Principles of aerosol jet printing
Aerosol jet printing (AJP) has emerged as a promising method for microscale digital additive manufacturing using functional nanomaterial inks. While compelling capabilities have been demonstrated in the research community in recent years, the development

Laser Fragmentation Synthesis of Colloidal Bismuth Ferrite Particles
Laser fragmentation of colloidal submicron-sized bismuth ferrite particles was performed by irradiating a liquid jet to synthesize bismuth ferrite nanoparticles. This treatment achieved a size reduction from 450 nm to below 10 nm.

Numerical Simulation of Formation and Breakup of a Three-Fluid Compound Jet
The formation and breakup of an axisymmetric immiscible, viscous, laminar compound jet flowing vertically downward into and breaking up in another immiscible liquid is studied numerically.

Upstream-travelling acoustic jet modes as a closure mechanism for screech
Experimental evidence is provided to demonstrate that the upstream-travelling waves in two jets screeching in the A1 and A2 modes are not free-stream acoustic waves, but rather waves with support within the jet. Proper orthogonal decomposition is used to

An In-Pipe Mobile Robot Using Electro-Conjugate Fluid
An electro-conjugate fluid (ECF) is a kind of functional fluid, which produces a jet flow (ECF jet) when subjected to high DC voltage. It is known that a strong ECF jet is generated under nonuniform electric field, for example, the field with a pair of ...

Study of Penetration Depth Characteristics of Coherent Jet in EAF Steelmaking
Coherent jet is widely adopted in electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaking to promote molten-bath fluid flow, accelerate the metallurgical reaction, and improve the quality of molten steel.A water model experiment was conducted and a computational fluid ...
