Fluid and gyrokinetic simulations of impurity transport at JET [PDF]

open access: yesPlasma Physics and Controlled Fusion, 2011
Impurity transport coefficients due to ion-temperature-gradient (ITG) mode and trapped-electron mode turbulence are calculated using profile data from dedicated impurity injection experiments at JET. Results obtained with a multi-fluid model are compared with quasi-linear and nonlinear gyrokinetic simulation results obtained with the code GENE.

A Novel Protein‐Polysaccharide Oral Nanoemulsion Targeting Activated Hepatic Stellate Cells to Enhance the Therapeutic Effect of Pirfenidone on Fibrosis After Transarterial Chemoembolization for Liver Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Transarterial Chemoembolization (TACE) may aggravate liver fibrosis. In this study, a novel oral targeting nanoemulsion is fabricated to enhance the therapeutic effect of antifibrotic drug‐pirfenidone (PFD) on fibrosis after TACE. Studies have shown that PFD nanoemulsion can enhance the oral liver targeting effect of PFD, and effectively improve the ...

Fluidic valve for reactor regeneration flow switching [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
An unusual and in many respects advantageous no-moving-part valve is described, developed for switching fluid flows in a through-flow reactor that requires a periodic regeneration by temporary replacement of the process fluid by another, regeneration ...

Structurally Colored Physically Unclonable Functions with Ultra‐Rich and Stable Encoding Capacity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
This study reports a design strategy for generating bright‐field resolvable physically unclonable functions with extremely rich encoding capacity coupled with outstanding thermal and chemical stability. The optical response emerges from thickness‐dependent structural color formation in ZnO features, which are fabricated by physical vapor deposition ...

Dynamics of double emulsion break-up in three phase glass capillary microfluidic devices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Pinch-off of a compound jet in 3D glass capillary microfluidic device, which combines co-flowing and countercurrent flow focusing geometries, was investigated using an incompressible three-phase axisymmetric Volume of Fluid–Continuum Surface Force (VOF ...

DETERMINATION OF THE SURFACE DENSITY OF POLARIZATION CHARGE OF THE MAGNETIC FLUID JET IN UNIFORM ELECTRIC FIELD

open access: yesВестник Северо-Кавказского федерального университета, 2022
The article is dedicated to an actual problem of the study of the behavior of the magnetic fluid jet in electrical and magnetic fields. A new method of calculation of value of density of the surface charge formed on the magnetic fluid jet surface is ...

Secondary jets from high viscosity complex fluid [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2010
The behaviour of a high viscosity complex fluid upon impact with a dry solid surface has been studied. Video-based studies show the appearance of secondary jets for large impact velocities.

Primary Atomization of a Liquid Jet in Crossflow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this fluid dynamics video, we present a visualization of the primary atomization of a turbulent liquid jet injected into a turbulent gaseous crossflow. It is based on a detailed numerical simulation of the primary atomization region of the jet using a finite volume, balanced force, incompressible LES/DNS flow solver coupled to a Refined Level Set ...

Biologically‐Inspired Melt Electrowriting for the Generation of Highly Biomimetic Functional Myocardium

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, melt electrowriting is used to fabricate a 3D printed scaffold design that generates engineered cardiac tissues with in‐plane contraction, mimicking natural myocardium. It is shown that these tissues display advanced maturation and functionality.

Scaling of the Anomalous Boost in Relativistic Jet Boundary Layer

open access: yes, 2014
We investigate the one-dimensional interaction of a relativistic jet and an external medium. Relativistic magnetohydrodynamic simulations show an anomalous boost of the jet fluid in the boundary layer, as previously reported.
