Asymmetry in the jet opening: underwater jet vectoring mechanism by dragonfly larvae
Bioinspiration & Biomimetics, 2018Aquatic Anisopteran dragonfly larvae achieve respiration and propulsion by repetitive water jets flowing through their anal openings. Previous studies have shown that the tri-leaflet anal valves modulate the emerging jet by varying the opening size.

Thrust Vector Control Utilizing Asymmetric Jet Nozzles
Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 1986R interest in thrust vector control with rigidly mounted thrusters has been revived. The results described in this Note are associated with the side-force generated by a supersonic jet with an exit plane which is oblique to the centerline of the exhaust flow. As shown in Fig.

Vectoring of a Wall bounded Planar Jet using Synthetic Jet Actuator
31st AIAA Applied Aerodynamics Conference, 2013Jet vectoring is one promising aspect among the various utilities of synthetic jet. In practical applications especially in an internal environment, the development of an air jet is often subjected to wall constraints. This study investigates the vectoring performance of a wall constrained jet with the actuation of a nearby synthetic jet.

Jet tab thrust vector control.
Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 1965The jet tab is a physical obstacle that is inserted into the nozzle exhaust stream to induce a strong shock upstream of the tab. The adverse pressure gradient along the nozzle wall, which accompanies the induced strong shock, causes an oblique shock upstream at the point of flow separation from the wall.

Confined jet thrust vector control nozzle studies
Journal of Propulsion and Power, 1990Axial and vectored flow behavior of an axisymmetric confined jet thrust vector control (CJTVC) nozzle is studied experimentally under steady-state and dynamic conditions. Pressurized secondary air injection is used to vector the nozzle at various levels of primary (chamber) air pressure.

Particle Size Classification Through Aerodynamic Jet Vectoring
Volume 1: Symposia, Parts A and B, 2007An experimental and numerical demonstration of a new, non-contact particle sorting technique called Aerodynamic Vectoring Particle Sorting (AVPS) is presented. AVPS uses secondary blowing and suction control flows to sharply turn a 2D, particle-laden jet.

Numerical Simulation of Vectoring of a Primary Jet with a Synthetic Jet
AIAA Journal, 2003The vectoring control of a primary jet with an averaged-zero-mass-flux synthetic jet is simulated using the two-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The vectoring effects of some parameters of the synthetic jet, such as the location, oscillating frequency, and velocity amplitude, are studied at two angles (0 and 60 deg) of the ...
