Thrust and jet directional control using the Coanda effect [PDF]

open access: yesINCAS Bulletin, 2018
The application of the Coandă effect to the directional control of a jet or thrust is presented. Deviation of the thrust force by direct flow can be achieved by using the Coandă effect to change the angle of the primary jet engine exhaust nozzle.

Thrust Vectoring of a Fixed Axisymmetric Supersonic Nozzle Using the Shock-Vector Control Method

open access: yesFluids, 2021
The application of the Shock Vector Control (SVC) approach to an axysimmetric supersonic nozzle is studied numerically. SVC is a Fluidic Thrust Vectoring (FTV) strategy that is applied to fixed nozzles in order to realize jet-vectoring effects normally ...

Experimental Investigation on Jet Vector Deflection Jumping Phenomenon of Coanda Effect Nozzle

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
The Coanda effect nozzle is a fluid thrust vectoring technology that uses the Coanda effect to control jet vector deflection. The jumping phenomenon often occurs in the process of controlling jet vector deflection.

Periodic Excitation for Jet Vectoring and Enhanced Spreading [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Aircraft, 1999
The effects of periodic excitation on the evolution of a turbulent jet were studied experimentally. A short, wide-angle diffuser was attached to the jet exit, and excitation was introduced at the junction between the jet exit and the diffuser inlet. The introduction of high-amplitude periodic excitation at the jet exit enhances the mixing and promotes ...

Vectoring of parallel synthetic jets: a parametric study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Mechanics, 2016
The vectoring of a pair of parallel synthetic jets can be described using five dimensionless parameters: the aspect ratio of the slots, the Strouhal number, the Reynolds number, the phase difference between the jets and the spacing between the slots.

Fluidic Vectoring of a Planar Incompressible Jet Flow

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
This paper presents an experimental, a numerical and a theoretical analysis of the performances of a fluidic vectoring device for controlling the direction of a turbulent, bi-dimensional and low Mach number (incompressible) jet flow.

Mathematical Modelling and Fluidic Thrust Vectoring Control of a Delta Wing UAV

open access: yesAerospace, 2023
Pitch control of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) using fluidic thrust vectoring (FTV) is a relatively novel technique requiring no moving control surfaces, such as elevators.
