A fluid jet with a finite angular velocity is subject to centripetal forces in addition to surface tension forces. At fixed angular momentum, centripetal forces become large when the radius of the jet goes to zero. We study the possible importance of this observation for the pinching of a jet within a slender jet model.

Can Protostellar Jets Drive Supersonic Turbulence in Molecular Clouds?
Jets and outflows from young stellar objects are proposed candidates to drive supersonic turbulence in molecular clouds. Here, we present the results from multi-dimensional jet simulations where we investigate in detail the energy and momentum deposition

Afterglow Light Curves from Off-Axis GRB Jets in Stratified Circumburst Medium
We study the gamma-ray burst (GRB) afterglow light curves produced by an off-axis jet in a stratified circumburst medium and summarize the temporal indices of the coasting phase, the deceleration phase, the Newtonian phase, and the deep Newtonian phase ...

Investigation of exit-velocity stratification effects on jets in a crossflow (STRJET) [PDF]
Program determines flow field about jets with velocity stratification exhausting into crossflow. Jets with three different types of exit-velocity stratification have been considered: (a) jets with relatively high-velocity core, (b) jets with relatively ...

The characters of the angular distributions of quark jets and gluon jets with different flavors are carefully studied after introducing the cone angle of jets. The quark jets and gluon jets are identified from the 3-jet events which are produced by Monte

Zonal Jets as Transport Barriers in Planetary Atmospheres [PDF]
The connection between transport barriers and potential vorticity (PV) barriers in PV-conserving flows is investigated with a focus on zonal jets in planetary atmospheres. A perturbed PV-staircase model is used to illustrate important concepts. This flow
