Composite Electrospun Fibers Containing Optimized B‐ and Cu‐Doped Bioactive Glass Sol‐Gel Particles for Potential Soft Tissue Engineering Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article describes the preparation and characterization of poly(ε‐caprolactone) electrospun composite fibers incorporating sol‐gel‐derived bioactive glass particles doped with B and Cu. Scanning electron microscopy, energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy, Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy, contact angle, acellular bioactivity, mechanical and ...

Full-Stokes, Multi-Frequency Radio Polarimetry of Fermi Blazars; Monitoring and Modelling

open access: yesGalaxies, 2017
The polarised emission from active galactic nuclei (AGN) jets carries information about the physical conditions at the emitting plasma elements, while its temporal evolution probes the physical processes that introduce variability and dynamically modify ...

Gagates in Crimean middle jurassic sediments (Sudak): coal petrography, paleobotany, formation conditions

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений: Геология и разведка, 2023
Background. The coal-bearing deposits of the Kopsel formation of the Bathonian-Callovian age of the Middle Jurassic near the city of Sudak (Crimea) are studied.

Gravitomagnetic jets

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2011
We present a family of dynamic rotating cylindrically symmetric Ricci-flat gravitational fields whose geodesic motions have the structure of gravitomagnetic jets. These correspond to helical motions of free test particles up and down parallel to the axis of cylindrical symmetry and are reminiscent of the motion of test charges in a magnetic field.

Evaluation of the Potential of Laser Shock Peening Compared with Cold Expansion for Improving Fatigue Resistance of Riveted Lap Joints of Aerospace Grade 7175 Al Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser shock peening for enhancing fatigue performance of riveted aerospace aluminum joints. A comparative approach with cold expansion combines fatigue testing and synchrotron X‐ray methods. Integrating mechanical testing with residual stress and strain characterization provides insights into how different treatments affect the ...

Deep‐Ultraviolet (DUV) Raman and Fluorescence of Perchlorates and Chlorates: Implications for the Detection of Oxychlorines by the SHERLOC Instrument in Jezero Crater, Mars

open access: yesEarth and Space Science
Oxychlorines (i.e., perchlorates (ClO4−) and chlorates (ClO3−)) have been detected by several landed missions on Mars at various locations. These missions have provided crucial information about the geographic distribution and abundances of oxychlorines ...

THE DEPENDENCE OF ON- AND OFF-STATE GENERATIONS IN CLASSICAL MICROQUASARS FROM THE DISK DENSITY. 3-D NUMERICAL HYDRODYNAMICAL SIMULATIONS OF THE HIGH AND LOW MASS ACCRETION RATE IN ACCRETION DISK IN MICROQUASAR CYG X-1

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2018
In the present work we have computed and have compared the on- and off- generations in low and high mass accretion rate accretion disks. The comparison shows that in the case of low mass accretion rate in disk (10−10 solar mass per year) the ON-state time

Three-dimensional relativistic MHD simulations of active galactic nuclei jets: magnetic kink instability and Fanaroff–Riley dichotomy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Energy deposition by active galactic nuclei jets into the ambient medium can affect galaxy formation and evolution, the cooling of gas flows at the centres of galaxy clusters, and the growth of the supermassive black holes.

Is Young's Modulus a Critical Coating Property Determining Fouling‐Release Performance of Marine Coatings?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The release of foulers from protective marine coatings is determined by several interrelated material properties, including the strength of Young's modulus, the flexibility of chain segments, the surface free energy, and the magnitude of hydrodynamic stress.
