Ten Years After the Wenchuan Earthquake: New Insights Into the Geodynamics of the Eastern Tibet [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
In 2008, the Mw 7.9 Wenchuan earthquake killed >80,000 and injured more than 370,000 people in the province of Sichuan, China. About 5 years later, Mw 6.6 Lushan earthquake occurred on 20 April 2013, only ~90 km further south.

FMLD: A Vertical Federated Learning Framework for Privacy‐Preserving Multimodal Landslide Detection

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation, Volume 3, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Landslides are among the most severe global geohazards posing a significant threat to human life and infrastructure. To support landslide detection and prediction, various geohazard monitoring approaches have been developed, such as optical remote sensing imagery, light detection and ranging, and ground‐based sensors, generating vast volumes ...

Multi-Temporal Landslide Inventory-Based Statistical Susceptibility Modeling Associated With the 2017 Mw 6.5 Jiuzhaigou Earthquake, Sichuan, China

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2022
The 2017 Mw 6.5 Jiuzhaigou earthquake (Sichuan, China) is the first strong ground motion that struck the famous world heritage site, causing widespread landslides and severe rock mass damage effects and landscapes undergoing rapid evolution in the ...

Seismogenic structures and spatiotemporal seismicity patterns of the 2022 Ms6.0 Maerkang earthquake sequence, Sichuan, China [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The 2022 Ms6.0 Maerkang earthquake sequence, Sichuan, China, occurred in an unexpected area with historically rare seismicity in the Bayan Har block. Here we relocated the earthquake sequence, inverted for the focal mechanisms of the larger events, and ...

Rock Magnetic Responses to Creep and Stick‐Slip Deformation Processes in the Xianshuihe Fault Zone, Eastern Tibetan Plateau

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 23, 16 December 2025.
Abstract The Xianshuihe fault zone (XSHF) in southwestern China accommodates both aseismic creep and seismic slip, yet geological evidence constraining these processes remains limited. Hence, we conducted microstructural, geochemical, and rock magnetic analyses of fault‐zone materials from the Cuoniulongba River outcrop.

Engineering Planning Method and Control Modes for Debris Flow Disasters in Scenic Areas

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2021
Compared with debris flows in other areas, debris flows in scenic areas not only seriously threaten residents, tourists, roads, walkways, and other infrastructure, but also cause considerable damage to the landscapes and ecosystems of these areas ...

Satellite Image Survey of Landslides Triggered by the 2024 Wushi Earthquake, Xinjiang, China

open access: yesGeoscience Data Journal, Volume 12, Issue 4, October 2025.
A satellite imagery survey was used to compile an inventory of 1273 landslides triggered by the 2024 Wushi earthquake in Xinjiang, China. These landslides ranged in area from 9 to 13,418 m2, with a total area of 0.42 km2, and exhibited a notable hanging wall effect.

Research on the forecasting strategy of early aftershocks in North China [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
To systematically investigate short-term aftershock forecasts following moderate-to-strong earthquakes of North China so as to develop "operational" aftershock forecasting strategies tailored to regional seismic characteristics, we adopt the widely used ...

Experimental Simulation Investigation on Mechanism and Criterion of Impact‐Induced Rockburst in Gaoloushan Deep Tunnel

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 13, Issue 8, Page 4252-4266, August 2025.
ABSTRACT During the excavation of a deep‐buried tunnel by the drilling and blasting method, the dynamic stress of blasting may cause the disorderly release of high energy in the rock mass during the blasting process of deep high‐energy rock. Blasting vibration is one of the main factors inducing dynamic disasters (such as rockbursts) in the surrounding
