The Book of Joel 1) consists of three parts. The first (Joel i 2-ii 17) is a beautiful poem which describes an invasion of locusts and exhorts the Jews to penitence. The second (Joel ii 18-27) is a poem similar to the first, but written shortly afterwards, when the call to penitence had been obeyed.
