A Biochar‐Based Composite Hydrogel Microenvironment for Enhanced Biocatalysis
This work presents the synthesis of a polyacrylamide hydrogel wherein biomass‐derived biochar is co‐encapsulated with the enzyme horseradish peroxidase (HRP). The resulting composite hydrogel possesses balanced electron‐rich and electron‐deficient domains, creating an optimal microenvironment that concentrates both hydrogen peroxide and phenol ...

Metamaterial Antennas Enhance MRI of the Eye and Occipital Brain
A radiofrequency antenna platform comprising planar and bend configurations is developed, incorporating structurally integrated epsilon‐negative metamaterial unit cells to enhance MRI. These antennas enable high‐resolution in vivo human MRI of the eye, orbit, and occipital brain. Comprehensive validation, including simulations, phantom experiments, SAR,

Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) using MgO tunnel barriers face challenges of high resistance‐area product and low tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR). To discover alternative materials, Literature Enhanced Ab initio Discovery (LEAD) is developed. The LEAD‐predicted materials are theoretically evaluated, showing that MTJs with dusting of ScN or TiN on ...

Lumbosacral Joint Angles in Children
Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, 1991We wished to determine values for the lumbosacral angles in children without spondylolisthesis. Eleven angles were measured on 112 consecutive standing lateral radiographs of children ranging in age from 3 to 18 years. Gender and scoliosis affected only sacral roll and the lumbosacral angle, respectively.

Joint angle-based EMG amplitude calibration
2011 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2011A calibration method is proposed to compensate for the changes in the surface electromyogram (SEMG) amplitude level of the biceps brachii at different joint angles due to the movement of the muscle bulk under the EMG electrodes for a constant force level.

Discrepancy between the 3 dimensional joint angles and clinical, planar joint angles
Proceedings of the First Joint BMES/EMBS Conference. 1999 IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology 21st Annual Conference and the 1999 Annual Fall Meeting of the Biomedical Engineering Society (Cat. No.99CH37015), 2003The 3-D angles calculated by nonorthogonal joint coordinate system (NJCS) corresponds well with clinical joint angle when a motion occurs mainly one plane as normal human gait. Because the NJCS does not consider the rotational status of distal segment to calculate the rotation angle around proximal body fixed axis, there may be a situation in which the

Critical cold joint angle in concrete
Construction and Building Materials, 2023This study aims to understand the effect of different cold joint angles on splitting tensile and compressive strength of concrete. A series of tests were conducted in the context of this study. Four different concrete grades (10, 20, 25, 30 MPa) were selected to demonstrate the very low grade, low grade, minimum grade and normal grades of concretes ...
