Metacarpophalangeal Joint Dislocation
Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, 2009Traumatic dislocation of the metacarpophalangeal joint is a relatively uncommon injury. The dislocation may be easily reducible (ie, simple) or require surgical intervention (ie, complex). The flexor tendons, lumbrical muscle, natatory ligament, and superficial transverse metacarpal ligament combine with the displaced volar plate to create a tight ...

Dislocations and Fracture Dislocations of the Tarsometatarsal Joints
Orthopedic Clinics of North America, 1987Dislocations and fracture-dislocations of the tarsometatarsal joints are potentially disabling injuries that present challenging therapeutic problems. Early recognition is imperative and is based on a familiarity with the important anatomic features of this joint, mechanism of injury, and subtle radiographic changes that often accompany these lesions ...

Palmar Metacarpophalangeal Joint Dislocation [PDF]
Palmar dislocations of the long finger metacarpophalangeal joint are extremely rare and easily missed at the first clinical examination. We describe a palmar metacarpophalangeal dislocation of the long finger following a hyperflexion injury. The presentation, aetiology and treatment are discussed.

POSTERIOR DISLOCATION OF THE SHOULDER JOINT [PDF]
Posterior dislocation of the shoulder is an unusual injury and there is often much delay before the diagnosis is made. Nevertheless, if the condition is borne in mind when examining the patient and studying the X-ray films the diagnosis should not be missed. A single antero-posterior radiograph of the shoulder joint is inadequate.

Dislocations of the sternoclavicular joint
Skeletal Radiology, 1993Dislocations of the sternoclavicular joint are uncommon, with the posterior variety having a potential for considerable morbidity. Radiologic management and diagnosis can be difficult. In this review article, the joint anatomy and mechanisms of dislocation are discussed and the incidence and clinical manifestations described.

Dislocation of the Trapezio-Metacarpal Joint
Journal of Hand Surgery, 1987Acute traumatic dislocation of the trapezio-metacarpal joint is not invariably associated with instability of the joint after reduction and the injury should not be considered simply as a “Bennett’s fracture without a fracture”.

Protracted dislocation of the temporomandibular joint
International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 1986A review of the literature concerning 37 cases of long-standing dislocation of the temporomandibular joint is presented. 3 new cases are added. A wide variety of methods of treatment has been used in the past. A survey of these methods will be given and a scheme of recommendation for managing the different clinical situations will be discussed.
